Thanks for doing this Hank - lots of work! Thanks for the look back at the prospect rankings, Hellboy30. It'd be interesting to list the NHL regulars for each year too, once they drop off the list of prospects, as that would show us how many players the Jets have managed to develop into NHL regulars.

Definitely a deep pool - lots of value for either the Jets, or for trade discussions with other GMs. I think we see at least 2 of these prospects make it to the bigs this year, and I wouldn't be at all surprised to see 3 on the Jets. My thought: Ehlers and Armia as the front runners, and Petan as a later season promotion when injuries strike (I think Petan sees AHL time first, since he's eligible and won't be subject to waivers). Helle could play with the Jets, but I doubt we see him unless there's an injury situation, or our goaltending completely explodes.

Fun stuff - future is looking bright.

Nice looking group of prospects. On a little side note the last 2 prospects to be as highly ranked as Ehlers in back to back rankings (Scheifele and Trouba) went on to quickly become valuable members of the team.

Despite being the best prospect at the time of the draft that we've drafted (IMO) Connor didn't manage to get higher than #5. That is some crazy quality.

The closest anyone has been to being ranked that low before is Morrissey, who was ranked at #3.

Prospects in our top 20 most likely to graduate this year

1) #10 Chairott
2) #1 Ehlers
3) #11 Copp
4) #6 Armia
5) # 4 Pétan
6) # 3 Morressay
7) #2 Helly-Goalie ( how many NHL games does HF require goalies to graduate ?)
8) #19) Lipon

I predict the top 4 to graduate this year but the bottom 4 to play a significant amount in the AHL this year and still be eligible on next years prospect list.......

Interesting observations between our 2014 prospect top 20 and this years top 20 prospects:

1) The top 4 prospects stayed the same...... with the exception of Helly-buck and Morressay switching positions.

2) 9 Prospects have exited from our top 20 prospects from 2014
- 2 graduated....... Hutch and Lowery
- 2 Left the organization......ODell and Klingberg
- 5 prospects fell below 20 and are now rated by us btw 20-30 best prospects in the system.....10) Jack Glover, 14) Brendon Kitchen,16) Jimmy Lodge, 17) Axel Blomqvist and 20) Ryan Olsen

3) Kosmo-Chuk fell from 6 to 14 th

4) Lipon fell from 11 to 19 th

5 ) Kostelak jumped from 19 th to 12 th

6) 6 of the new entries were drafted at this years draft out of our 8 draft picks this year. (Shinny new toy??)

7) 2 of the new entries this year were acquired by trade (Evander Kane)

You forgot to mention Morrissey. If he doesn't make the team out of TC he is certainly likely to get a call up.

Oh yeah, that guy. :D Whaddya want: I posted at 630 in the morning, only one coffee in. I think he'll get AHL time first, along with Petan. I'd like to see both on the big club, but I think they'll get pushed to learn the pro-game in the A, simply because they can.

Which is also good because then it is easier to watch them live at Moose games.

The fact that there are some good prospects not in the top twenty is a great sign.

Indeed. When you have guys outside your top 20 that could & some will no doubt make the NHL, you have a very deep prospect pool.

Of the below, I'd give the best chance to some of the D prospects, and maybe Lodge or even Phillips, but it all depends on how each progresses from here & what they do with their chance when it comes -- after all, who could have seen Chiarot come up that fast but making the best of your chance is what he did.

60 - Brenden Kichton, D, St. John's (AHL)
56 - Tucker Poolman, D/RW, U. of North Dakota (NCAA)
50 - Jack Glover, D, U. of Minnesota (NCAA)
23 - Jamie Phillips, G, Michigan Tech (NCAA)
22 - Jimmy Lodge, C, Mississauga (OHL)
9 - Ryan Olsen, C, St. John's (AHL)
8 - Axel Blomqvist, LW/RW, Moose Jaw (WHL)
6 - Marcus Karlstrom, D, Mora (Swe-1)
4 - C.J. Franklin, LW, Minnesota State U.-Mankato (NCAA)
3 - Matteo Gennaro, C/LW, Prince George (WHL)
2 - Nelson Nogier, D, Red Deer (WHL)
2 - Matt Ustaski, F, U. of Wisconsin (NCAA)
1 - Ivan Telegin, F, CSKA Moskva (KHL)

PS: Interesting too that guys like Cormier isn't even mentioned anymore -- still has a reasonable chance, but time is running out.

Chiarot's the lone pre-Jets prospect on the list. Last year O'Dell and Klingberg were the only two pre-Jets prospects. The 2013 list had 6 out of 20 (Redmond, Postma, O'Dell, Telegin, Kulda, Melchiori).

The 2015 list has 6 players from the most recent draft. The only other year where we had more most-recent picks ranked in the top 20 was 2013 (7 out of 20). I think I'd be fine if we drafted a guy like Ehlers in the even years, and a boatload of quality prospects in the odd years... :sarcasm:

That 2013 haul was indeed something else. Of the 10 players selected, 6 are still in our top 20 (Morrissey, Petan, Comrie, Copp, Kostalek, Lipon) and the other 4 (Lodge, Poolman, Kichton Karlstrom) all still have good potential to make the NHL

I wonder how much more of the pro game Morrissey has to learn considering he has close to half a year worth of games in AHL. Either way I don't anticipate him being on the Moose for long if he is indeed sent there out of camp.

14 forwards
4 Defense
2 Goalies

1 of the 4 defense is arguably not a prospect anymore (Chiarot)

I continue to be surprised that they keep Cormier around. He has shown himself to be adequate at best at the AHL level and inadequate at the NHL level. He is decent defensively so he can be put into the lineup and won't hurt you ..... much. But he won't actually accomplish anything positive either. Is he plan B at 4C? I would rather use Petan as that. I think time ran out for him a year ago already.
