Anyone know what happened with Karlstrom? Played 3 games with Omaha in the USHL preseason but is not listed on the roster and didn't play the past 2 games. Didn't make the team?

^ I've noticed that as well. Maybe injured?
If he actually is a healthy scratch, or didn't make the team as an overager, I think we can give up on him.

Harkins has had a meh start. Not very visible out there so far. Expect a lot more from him.

8 defenseman are listed on the roster (http://www.lancers.com/page/show/1984428-roster-2015-2016-) but he's not one, so it's hard to assume he's just a healthy scratch. But in any case, I agree, the future isn't looking so hot for Karlstrom.

When you bring him up in EliteProspects he no longer has anything listed for 2015-16 whereas before, as recently as a few days ago it showed USHL Omaha.

May not have made the team.

He would have to dominate the USHL at his age to have any sort of chance.

^ NAHL is one of the college feeder leagues, like USHL, the US high school leagues, and Canadian Junior A. Hellebuyck is another NAHL alumnus.

The point is: most good players leave these leagues at the age of 18, or at least 19. Karlstrom will be 20 at the start of the season.

Edit: furthermore, the USNTDP ised to play in the NAHL, boosting the number of successful alumni.

I was wondering about that when I saw the list. Take those players out and the list isn't as stellar as it looked. Too bad, Karlstrom was one of a couple out of the blue picks I was hoping would become something. Can't see him ever getting anything more than an AHL deal from the Moose down the road, if that.

He'll play for Austin Bruins NAHL starting next weekend. Omaha cut him. No one else in USHL wanted him either.

Not a good sign.

He's basically done. Jets retain his rights until June 1, 2017 but much like the situation with Yasin Cisse a few years ago it's largely irrelevant. Might be signed by Moose next year and assigned to ECHL like Cisse, but doesn't really matter.

Yasin Cisse. That's good for a chuckle. Thank god we had so many good D on display tonight. Shows we're ok depth wise.:sarcasm:

Well I still have Matt Ustaski to wish upon a star.:yo:

Didn't realise WHL had started, good that Spacek has started strong. Maybe he'll be our junior dominator for this year now that Petan and Ehlers (likely) are gone.

Prince George is in a odd spot. They kept a veteran roster (Harkins' father is the GM), but don't seem to be considered amongst the favourites in the W. Harkins the senior should probably be building around the '98s and 99's, but the stability of the franchise and presence of his son is likely leading him to try to win as many as possible. Wouldn't mind some Joe H perspective on this.

The Cougars are hardly ever favourites for anything. We just aren't in the same calibre as Portland or Kelowna for example. We should be a playoff team though.

The team is pretty young with two 20 year olds. PG will be relying on Harkins, Morrison, Gabrielle among others to provide offense, all of which aren't that old.
