No, but I've seen a few people questioning whether the numbers reflect total goals scored or just those for games that the player played.

It would be meaningless to calculate point percentage including games not played by a player.

@pwilliamsNHL: The Jets will participate in a prospects tournament in Penticton on Sept. 11-14. Canucks, Flames and Oilers will also participate.

HFers sure get defensive when people call out their teams prospects for playing poorly.

I wish this place existed for Daigle.

Much like the hate I get for suggesting I think Petan projects more as a Descharnais than a Tyler Johnson (and that's in 2 years, not immediately). The vocal minority that loves the prospect will always get in arms about it. In fact I expect this post alone will ruffle quite a few feathers.

How dare you use my post as a platform for that sort of blasphemy!

I think he projects as more than a Desharnais, but I also get way too attached to our prospects and over-value every single one of them.

I do mean prime Descharnais when he was a valuable hard working two way center that could play all situations but excelled in PP puck movement and got 15-45-60 per year as a solid #2C. But still. I think people tend to overrate and underrate prospects too much based on stats and small sample sizes.

If we get Desharnais production out of Nic that would not be a bad thing but unlike Petan (and Johnson) Desharnais has the problem of being too small for the NHL. :sarcasm: :)

So I am thinking of purchasing hockeystreams next season instead of NHL Gamecenter. This almost seems too good to be true. Cheaper, higher quality + games from AHL/CHL?

Did anyone have it this past season and is willing to give it some credibility?

Seems fairly civil in that Ehlers/Virtanen thread. It's not like the reaction when you slight a Flyer prospect - and that pipeline is pretty dry.

Boy, Romang really comes out swinging in those main board posts...not the "Affable Swede" persona he displays here!

While for the most part those threads have avoided personal attacks I still get a very defensive vibe. Virtanen had been on the receiving end of shots since Nylander and Ehlers began their seasons.

It's still some general commentary on HF. There's Morin as you said, but that doesn't hold a candle to the one and only Fucale.

Why, surely I know not of what you speak.:innocent:

In my defense, I generally don't say anything in those threads except when someone says something that I find ridiculous. Like someone saying that Ehlers will be exposed once he leaves the Q, like Drouin and Mantha were. Or someone saying that Morin is far and away the best D-man on the Rimouski team. Or someone saying that Hellebuyck isn't the best goalie in the world. I mean, at some point, I just have to stop the madness!

And then there is Fucale...

I actually think DD is decent and I don't hate the comp at all. The problem he suffers from is he is their #1 centre and its tough to have a small #1 centre. If DD had been playing out of the #2 hole and producing he would have caught away less heat IMO. I think people are mostly complaining in Montreal about the lack of a prototypical #1 center and who is the person that is going to catch the most heat in that scenario......the placeholder and the GM.

Petan reminds me a lot of our own Perreault.

Strong playmaker and slick skater, albeit not quite a burner. Shooting is also underrated, although plays a pass first game. Feisty as well and doesn't shy away from the net or the boards despite size disadvantage. Good 5 on 5, but can make magic on a PP.

One thing Perreault certainly has over Petan at this point is versatility. Perreault can play on any line at any position effectively. Petan has struggled on the wings, IMO, and it's yet to be seen how he'll adapt to lower line assignment.

He looked fine on the wing (and on lower lines) at the WJC and while it's true he hasn't proven capable, he hasn't really had much chance to show it off. You'd be mad not to play him as your top C in the WHL with how he produces.
