Scouting Reports;

A hard-nosed two-way winger that thinks ahead of the play and seeks to be proactive whenever he is on the ice. In every situation, he exhibits haste, quickness, and urgency. He utilizes his high end footspeed to gain position on the opposition, and inherently knows how to create time and space for himself and teammates. Adheres to the physical side of the game and will initiate contact instinctively. Will will need to work on making quicker passes and decisions, as his vision can seem undermined due to reaction times being a second too late on some occasions, but his game is already at a point where these issues will not remain obstacles to his development for long.

The speedy forward plays a feisty game and is more than willing to use his body to make a play, despite his comparative lack of size. He took the long route to the NHL, including four years of college hockey and plenty of time in the AHL. Can be used as a penalty-killing forward because he works hard and defends well.

Favorite Team
Detroit Red Wings

Favorite Players

Bruce Boudreau;

“He’s got great speed, great tenacity, and for a not overly big guy, he hits real hard,” said Canucks coach Bruce Boudreau. “And if you give him enough ice time, like he had in the AHL to score goals, it will build his confidence.”

Jim Benning;

"Will is a hard-working, two-way winger with natural scoring ability," said Vancouver GM Jim Benning. "He plays with urgency and creates chances for himself and his teammates."

Familiarity with NYR;

Played on the U.S National U18 Team with Fox, Lindgren and Patrick Khodorenko

Played on the 2015/2016 WJC for Team USA U-18 with Adam Fox and Ryan Lindgren. Won Bronze Medal

Played on the 2017/2018 WJC for Team USA U-20 with Adam Fox and Ryan Lindgren. Won Bronze Medal

Played on the 2019 Michigan Wolverines. He was a teammate of unsigned NYR Prospect Eric Ciccolini. Lockwood wore the C for that team.

Played with Tyler Motte for a couple of seasons in Vancouver.

Shares the same agent as Zac Jones

Father played for Michigan for Red Berensen. It was actually Red’s first ever team he coached for them. His father (a freshman at the time) scored one of the biggest goals in Michigans history in 1985 vs the Spartak Russian team. They call it Michigans Miracle. His dad made it to the AHL in 89. He actually played with my Cousin on that team for 1 season. My Cousin later went to the N Stars and SJS.

a younger, smaller, righthanded Dryden Hunt
waivers vulnerable beginning next season, but not a likely claim risk
a little more older/proven/ready than Cuylle/Rempe

Good news. Heard on the wire that William Lockwood has made it to Hartford finally. He caught a carriage out of Billings and made it to St Louis where he got on what I believe is a new form of transportation called the steam locomotive, which took him to New York. And from there he rode on a mule to Hartford. He has left sole proprietorship of his saloon in Billings to trusted old friend Granville von Wonig.
