Will be tough as he's not going to have the full 82 GP this season to work with.

on pace currently for 65 points so would have to pick up his current pace with only 28 games left in the regular season would have to get 30 to beat it.

ouch, that doesn't look good. as for goals, he's on pace for 38.

so 38g-27a-65p vs. 40g-29a-69p.

gpg of 0.53 vs. 0.49

ppg of 0.90 vs. 0.84

there's modest improvement.

Wouldn't really be a discussion if he was healthy all season, injury could prevent it but he's a top 10 centre in the league right now.

Got his butt handed to him by Bergeron but you have to learn how to win in those match ups. It'll come.

I doubt that he will keep up his ppg pace, as it has been declining since the early part of the season. If he plays the last 28 games at the pace that he has played in 2018 (9 points in 14 games) he won't hit 60 points. He hasn't had a powerplay point since November - seriously. I guess he might get lucky on the PP (for the little that unit goes on) sometime between now and the end of the year and be on the ice when an opposing team accidentally scores on their own net, but otherwise I don't see that unit scoring.

to crack his "last season" point totals he will need to score at a ppg place for the remainder of the games. However, in terms of ppg he is probably going to improve on that for sure by the time season is done.

He probably won't and theres no need to panic. There will be plenty of wonderful seasons of Auston Matthews to watch down the road

Doubtful. He looks completely out of it at this point. I expect a pointless streak coming up for him.

His injuries and time missed this year will likely result in a lower PPG pace than last year.

Good now all we need is the whole narrative that he is McDavid 2.0 to get squashed. He is no more than an Eichel level player or a tad above. It's always been the case at every level and is the same now. Sorry no 14million dollar contracts for you here Matthews and if thats what his camp wants.. Trade him.

His pace is better than last years but those 10 games missed is a big hurdle. I think he'll crack 40 this year, he's due to go on a hot streak and get a couple of hattricks along the way.

He doesn't have a single hattrick this season but he's been suuuuuupper consistent. His longest goalless streak is one 5 game streak in late November and one 4 game streak in mid January.

He'll have a hot streak and end up slightly above PPG IMO. Like 75 in 72 type stuff. Outside of last night, with the team playing faster, it'll help his offence.
