Win Desperate & Mad!
Today the cream of Canuck hockey youth collectively comes to the GRAND FORK (S) in their respective roads towards becoming true individual champions. Will the Russians continue their recent domination over Canada at the World Junior Hockey Championships? Goalies Anton Khudobin and Jeff Glass will be defending their respective red squares (24 square feet of twine) in tonight’s gold medal match up—where goaltending will be the big factor.

The seventh-round selection of the Minnesota Wild in the 2004 NHL entry draft, Russian net minder Khudobin needs to erect and iron curtain to prevent puck penetration from the likes of Patrice Bergeron, Ryan Getzlaf and Sydney Crosby. For Canada, Glass must become bullet proof with the likes of Russian winger Alexander Ovechkin and centre Evgeni Malkin, the top two picks in last year's NHL draft, sniping with impunity. Sergei Shirokov rounds out tonight’s dangerous Russian offensive.

So is there gold in them there black hills, for our young Canadian gunslingers to escape with, skating out of those frozen Thief River Falls in them Dakota hills at Grand Forks in the Ole’ US of A? Only time will tell and those will be the longest 60 minutes our young desperados have yet encountered. Team defense and home-zone coverage are crucial to success. Edmonton's defensive pairing of Dion Phaneuf and Shea Weber may play a pivotal role riding shotgun to prevent a Russian runaway at any stage. Lets hope at the end our boys can avoid a shootout.

And if a shootout it should be, then let’s send those…

Russki’s back to their rooms
Like Rocky Raccoons…
Only to find Gideon’s Bible
To help those good Russki’s revival.

Happy New Year - OYLer

Hey OYler Dude, almost missed this thread. Great insite as usual. I  down to your insightful observations. Loved the references to the Beatles tune and you always manage to point out who to watch for.

Isn't it great to have Canadian Junior Hockey back on top again!!! :handclap:
