I absolutely hate that! There really is no excuse for not showing Montreal games on CBC Montreal on Saturday nights!!

This has to be the most irrelevant post here, as SRC lost the rights to RDS, and CBC getting rights when SRC don't even have them would be the best move since... haaeem... sqare-wheel invention.

It's irrelevant because this isn't a thread about CBC's hockey night in Canada's Schedule. It's about where Toronto plays Saturday Nights(which more often then not is at home then on the road).

There's a difference between English and French broadcast rights ;)

They are intertwined. Toronto is home so often on Saturdays specifically because CBC wants them at home on HNIT.

CBC/SRC are public broadcast network, it would have been a scandal if CBC could broadcast here and SRC don't...

Does anyone else find themselves nodding their head ina greement to Resolutes posts?

the "ratings" argument is a laughable one becuase as Resolute pointed out, CBC gets it's $$$ from Canadians, it is not a private enterprise. Canadian gov't has some rule about showing a certain percentage of Canadian content, which CBC abides by showing dumb shows that no one watches like "This is Wonderland" and "The Red Green Show".

A public broadcaster has no right to be in the ratings business. That's for the private sector.

They do it right in the states. PBS is their version of CBC and its purely public support that keeps it going. Nobody really watches it aside from a few documentaries but at least they dont play with the public tax money to get in bidding wars with the private sector. I cant believe the astronomical dollars the CBC threw at the olympic games. Way to steal our money and way too generate a huge loss!

But the CBC finally got bidded out by CTV for the olympics starting in 2008 or 2010. It could be the beginning of the end for the hypocritical CBC and one can only hope it really is the end.

Tradition can only take you so far when you screw around with the majority of the country
