Radulov. Vanek will be done with hockey in a few years because he has no heart.

Agreed. Even back when he played w/ Minnesota, getting him to give a full effort every night was a task.

Vanek has yet to impress me at all.. Maybe I'm just watching him on the wrong nights.

I'd say Radulov.

He was terrible at the end of the year and in the playoffs. The kid definitly has the skill, he just only plays when he feels like it which is a huge problem.

Exactly. I realize he has all the skill in the world, I watched him tons of times while he played at Minnesota. But he is a very extreme defensive liability and that can't happen in the NHL. He also doesn't work real hard so until he gets that figured out, I feel like he will be out of the NHL in no time.

Hopefully as he matures he will realize that there is more to hockey than just scoring goals.

Well, if the sabes win the cup this year (his first year) he might not ever realize this... Because in a sense, he will have accomplished the ultimate goal? Though not contributing much of anything, maybe a lengthy absence from the "promised land" would put a fire in his belly... That might be one of the few ways I see it happening.

Vanek, but my opinion is probably more biased than a Buffalo Fan's. Seeing Vanek is my favorite forward in the Game Today. :)

Vanek's potential is 50+ Goal Scorer. He has some of the best hands i've ever seen, as well as some very strong Stickhandling skills. Vanek posses great offensive potential, but his Defense is his knock. I think it can be improved (Well I hope) also he is quite lazy and decides when to show up for games.

But since hes a personal favorite of mine, I have to believe in him :)

Radulov.

I think they are pretty close in terms of skill but I think Vanek will be one of those guys who drives his coaches crazy with one dimensional play. I could see him bouncing around from team to team as an offensive specialist who can put up numbers on mediocre teams. The fact that he's been scratched by the Sabres during this playoff run is not promising.

Well hes still young and not seeing the ice in the playoffs is not the worst thing ever. Radulov probably would not have seen the ice for the preds. Until either do it in the show regularly its hard to say. I go with Vanek at this point because he is there playing.

well its no secret i like Vanek. And i do agree his defence is his weak area. I would hope that after this year he will have learned enough to make it less of a problem. To the point where he is just OK in his own zone in the NHL. I would not exept much more from him. But with guys like Vanek and other highly skilled forwards. He needs some time to relax. He left to play for Austria the last two years. Has played for three teams and three coaches in the last three years. Hopefully this offseason he can take it all in. Re-group and start the season fresh. He IMO has the potential to put up a ton of points.

Just a question. I see lots of simularities between Heatley and Vanek. Yet Heatley is great and Vanek lazy. Both simular college players. Dany had it great playing in wide open Atlanta while Vanek got Ruff there first years.

This playoff season. Richards, Carter and Phanuef have not impressed me much. Hard to judge Vanek by his lack of production.

Radulov from what Ive seen is just as bad if not worse defensively as Vanek. When Quebec doesnt has possesion of the puck its basically a 5 on 4. To say he coasts back up ice in the games Ive seen, would be giving him to much credit. With that said I think just based on consistency Radulov will have more career points. He only failed to register a point in what 3 games or something like that.

I see what you're saying about Atlanta but Buffalo isn't exactly a defensive minded system. Buffalo and Atlanta actually scored the same amount of goals this year and finished tied for 3rd in the Eastern Conference for goals for.

I am not saying that. Just that Atlanta let Heatley go play hockey. And Ruff and Buffalo wanted more from all their players. So Vanek is looking worse as rookie but in styles thet were not different at all.

Vanek does become lazy at times.
That being said, during his college career, he looked like he was coasting, but he still would blow bby opponents and score the goal. His performance against New Hampshire in the title game is a great example of that. When he decides to show up, he can be one of the most dangerous players in the NHL.

No comment on Radulov, havent seen him much at all.
