Sergei Korostin - Right wing - Dynamo Moscow • (Russia) • 5'10", 176 lbs.

He's the resident sleepwalker of this year's draft class.

Korostin barely saw any action with Dynamo Moscow, so interested teams may try to persuade him to cross the pond right away.

ILYA ANTONOVSKY
Vastom • Russia Jr.
6'0", 178 lbs. Defense, shoots left
Born: July 3, 1989 in Moscow, Russia
Final Ranking: 58 • Mid-Term Ranking: N/R • European Skater

Central Scouting Report: A heads-up defenseman with good mobility…
makes good decisions when joining the rush and is well positioned at both ends
of the ice… has a good shot from the point and passes the puck well… needs to
be more physical and gain some strength.

Statistics
Season Team League .......GP G A PTS PIM
2006-07 Vastom Russia Jr. 24 20 47 67 60

Ilya Antonovsky - D - Vastom (Russia Jr,) 6-0/178, (ranked 58th European) - Games 24 goals 20 Assists 47 Points 67 PIMS 60 - Beyond the top-rated prospects, the Russians have one of the most intriguing dark horses in this year’s draft. Defenseman Ilya Antonovsky, ranked 58th among European skaters, could be the best pure offensive defenseman in the draft. This year, playing for Vastom in a Moscow-based junior circuit, he averaged over two points per game and reportedly displayed work from the point reminiscent of Sergei Zubov or Sergei Gonchar. The catch: The 6-foot, 178 pound blueliner has a lot to learn about defensive and physical play before he’s ready to be an RSL regular or Russian junior national team player, much less an NHLer.

Colton Yellow Horn could be picked up somewhere despite being an undrafted prospect last year. I wouldn't be surprised if Keith Aulie jumps up the charts as well. He's a huge defenceman (6'5) and could be drafted in the first three rounds if someone is willing to take on a project pick like him. Don't be surprised (despite what everyone is saying) if a team that is desperate for a goaltending prospect takes someone like Sexsmith with their first rounder.

My apologies if this has been posted elsewhere already but who do you all think will...

a) go a lot higher than expected? (like Blake Wheeler did)

b) come out of nowhere and be taken at some point in the draft (not necessarily in just the first three rounds)?

Now that he has been chosen to Team Canada, I think Josh Godfrey will have a good chance at round 3 after having being missed this year. Also, Jonathan Carrier (6'4" 205 lb.) whose season was plagued by injuries is like to go higher than projected, maybe the 3rd as well. And finally, Rick Vaive's son, Justin, just started to improve his skating to go with his 6'5" frame at the end of the year and looked good at the U18, a late second to 3rd are outside possibilities.

Goncharov in the top 2 rounds. I really feel this guy is gonna be good if he plays in the NHL.
