Grabner and Hageln took different paths. Grabner has actually played two more seasons professionally than Hagelin. Feels like he's been around since like 2007 for some reason though.

Hagelin and Fast are very different players. Hagelin was the "dog chasing the bone" and Fast is more of an all around/Jan Erixon mold.

Fast has a much better shot.

Both stepped it up in the playoffs. Hagelin had some legendary runs.

Always thought Hagelin was a little overrated. Better at PK and shooting. Fast is better at everything else.

Hagelin was pretty much always a top 6 player for us. If Fast got the same opportunities, the perception would be different.

J. Fast without any doubts - he looks very confident recently and fun to watch him.

Hagelin and Grabner are similar defensive players. They're both thought of as above average because they kill penalties but they're both pretty horrendous.

Fast is fantastic defensively at even strength.

If we are talking primes, Hagelin was more of an impact player.
He was unreal when he first came up in the 2011-12 season. Huge spark-plug in our top 6 that nearly beat out at least half a dozen icings per game. He also emphasized the changed team dynamics from a slow, plodding physical team into a quick-strike offense, pacey team under AV.

In my mind Grabs is much older, for reasons I don't quite understand. But the reality is that he's all of 10 months older than Hags.

Well, that college route Hagelin took helps create that view. He was much older than Grabner when he made his NHL debut. Hagelin was drafted 10(!) years ago. Let that sink in.

Man is this a tough question. I would go with Fast. Guy who does so many little things that go unnoticed.

As under the radar as Fast is, Hagelin was more so. Losing him was a HUGE blow to the team that most of the fanbase didn't see coming.
If you know there is a cap in the NHL, you knew Hagelin most likely would be gone. It was either him or Zuccarello and it was a no-brainer to keep Zucc over Hags.
