NYR:

-Al Montoya
-Henrik Lundqvist
-Chris Holt
-Steven Valiquette (sp?)
-Johan Asplund (don't know anything about him, only know he's in Rangers)
*Dan Blackburn -- could've been a great goalie, sad that a freak accident will probably cause him to retire at such a young age. :(

Johan Asplund barely deserves to be on that list. He's pretty much awful in Sweden -- doesn't even do well in tier 2 out there and he's not all that young. The Rangers have a great one-two top two with Montoya and Lundqvist both potential stars, and a decent prospect in Holt. There's no-one after that, though (poor Blackie doesn't count). That makes for good top end, but not much depth. Not that you need more than three quality goalies for an NHL team (starter, backup, fill-in from the AHL); however, soon we're going to want to stock up again.

VanIslander, good point on the Preds.

What? I never watch Nashville, but indicated them.

I'm a huge Canucks fan, but I think our goaltending depth stinks as usual. Even our is awful. Auld is the only one I have any faith in, and even then... little.

This is HFBoards... many of us are hockey fans first, homers second.

No need to undermine our judgements.

...To say Canucks prospect goaltending depth stinks is way off. Homer or not, 1/2 the league would trade their goalie prospects with ours. It should at least be above average.

Atlanta has the best top end goaltending prospects by far....Pavalec alone will be a great starter some bay....add in Lehtonen....who IMO is a better prospect then Luongo at the same age and you have a serious 1/2 combo for a few years.

I'm trying to stay as unbiased as I can here, but IMO it is Montreal and Vancouver.

Carey Price
Yann Danis
Christopher Heino-Lindberg
Jaroslav Halak

Those are 4 solid prospects with NHL potential. Two of them could be solid starters, one has an outside chance at doing so, and the other one (Halak) will probably become a solid back-up goalie.

Sorry, forgot about Lehtonen as a prospect considering hes going to be their starting goaltender this year, and yes Pavalec is going to be a great starter, but I think Lundquist and Montoya will be a great starter some day as well.

To redecide with the consideration of Lehtonen still being a prospect(which he is)
I'll say its a tie between Atlanta and New York Rangers :)

in a non biased oppinon, im gonna say Vancouver.

Schnieder is probably gonna start for team USA this winter
Elllis was the best of the 3 goalies at Camp for Team Canada.

Potentially it be Ellis vs Schnieder, both Canuck prospects

Then we have Auld, who is as good as our number 1, DAn Cloutier.

New York and Montreal are two that jump to mind

For a team that usually drafts pretty well, Anaheim as terrible depth in goal.
San Jose's goalie prospects are probably in the bottom tier of the league.

Dimitri Pätzold
Nolan Schaefer
Thomas Greiss
Patrick Ehelechner
Jason Churchill
Alex Stalock
Taylor Dakers
Brian Mahoney-Wilson
Derek MacIntyre

While the Sharks could quite possibly develop some of them into elite goaltenders like Nabakov and Kipprusoff, they don't have a Price or a Monotya; a goalie prospect that clearly has a very high upside. IMO, Greiss is the only prospect with a chance as a starter. Patzold, Dakers, Stalock, and Ehelechner both project to be excellent backups, but with the surfeit of quality goaltenders in the NHL, most, if not all of them will probably never play regularly in the NHL.

If Warren Strelow can get back on his feet, or if his Wayne Thomas can take his role as Sharks goaltending coach, I wouldn't be surprised to see these goalies' stocks rise quite a bit.
I don't mind the Sharks goaltending to be honest, I wouldn't be suprised if some of those cats turned out to be NHLers, San Jose is the best team in the league at picking overlooked goalies late and developing them properly, I hope Calgary can do the same with Spratt, Keetley and Lalande.
