Which system to compare scoring do you prefer?

I thought i would ask you guys here since you are masters at comparing players between eras.

What system do you prefer(VsX etc) and are players scores regarding it compiled somewhere for me to see?

No compiling. Take each era on its own merits.

The all-time drafts do a good job of that.

The further one gets from the year of comparison, the less valuable it is. Gross totals are gross across eras; top-10 stats range from meaningful in a 30-team league to nearly meaningless in terms of superstar power in a 6-team era; the NHL versus NHA, PCHA, WHA, euro and international tourneys.

There is no magic bullet. Give up reductivism to a formula. Weigh a multitude of factors when considering the relative merits of any player at any position in any era.

That's what also makes the HOH project so wonderful.

Agree with this part, as for the rest not so sure there seems to be a lot of "evening out of all eras" being the same in a lot of comps that are made between eras, which creates a bit of a bias when looking at guys historically.

no idea on what you mean exactly on the comp of top 10's in a 30 team and 6 team league, one is much easier to attain due to variance or rather less chance of it aside from truly elite players and by elite I mean Greztky, Howe, Orr types of guys at least since the awarding of assists has become standardized.

IMO, VsX is generally the best for comparing forwards who spent their entire primes on scoring lines and the power play, while it's useless for others (like secondary scorers in the O6 era).
