What to use to clean roller blade bearings?

Use gasoline or diesel (put a small bit into a container, insert a couple of bearings, and shake about) to clean out the grit and the dirt, then dry them off, then use WD-40 to grease them up and reinstall them into your wheels. That'll do the trick.

Not sure about the gasoline. I always pour WD-40 over them, wipe em down, then put more WD-40 on before putting them back on. Never had a problem.

same here i wipe off all the dust and dirt and then spray them a couple of times with wd-40

I forget the name of it, but you can get bearing cleaner/lubricant from most skate shops and some sporting goods stores...thats what I've used in the past with good success (in the same price range as WD-40)
