Several vintages Chief.... we have guys born in the 40's so 44 & 46 (guys now in their 70's) then you have the 50's, 1953 followed by the 1st Major Dynasty of 56/57/58/59/60 (guys in their late 50's & 60's).... then youve got those born in the 60's & the Forgotten Dynasty, 71 & 73 included... then the late 70's Dynasty.... 1986 (32yr olds) & 1993 (25yr olds)... Thats a lot of history huh?
Canadiens for me too.
Gerry McNeil's Cup year in goal.
Bit of a sad story that, the Life & Times of Gerry McNeil, some serious Highs in 1953 when he won the Cup, but then quickly replaced the following season by the young & upcoming Jacques Plante... then finding himself replacing Plante in the Finals against Detroit, winning 2, forcing a Game 7.... and in Overtime.... what should have been a routine save, pucks deflected by Doug Harvey & BAM, Red Wings win the Cup, McNeil crushed, quits the game, Coaching Junior the following season.
He did return to the crease but never again as a Starter... remembered by many as the guy who let in the Bill Barilko goal in 51..... www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJLQYGP3VXo ..... yes, yes you see Mr. Bonvie? If the subject matter isnt already about Toronto Im going to make certain its all about the Leafs, and no, no I wasnt born in 2005... off by a year.... 2004.... 1953 not a vintage year for the Buds.... Good Year otherwise.... Stalin died... Ian Fleming's first James Bond novel, Casino Royale is published.... Mickey Mantle hits a 565' home run at Griffiths Stadium in DC, believed to be the longest ever even to this day by some baseball historians....
Oilers (1987)
Are there no tidbits that can illude you, sir?
Montreal over Boston in 6... 1958.
That was the year the micro-chip was invented, reverse engineered from that crash in Roswell back in 47,
Hmmm, I'm thinking that the first micro-chip was installed in me. Would explain a lot...
Very, er, cosmic answer.
Hard to top KC's "Red" but that was also the year a certain controversial magnum opus hit the shelves with the quaint title, "Tales from Topographic Oceans." I still give that an annual listen.
I'm a bit confused, "year you were born" are we talking the NHL year as in the season?
I mean...either way it's the Islanders, but do I use the 1981 Isles champs who won a good 7 months before I was born or do I use the 1982 Isles who were about 5 months after I was born?
