The triple M. I like it. Could really give Marleau a huge boost he could use. Playing with two skilled guys like 34 and 16 will give anyone a boost.

If Tavares does come here I'd probably try to slot him as the LW on the Matthews-Marner line - JT probably wouldn't like being put on the wing at first but think that would become a Boston 1st line level of domination, Matthews & Tavares work really well along the boards and Marner would feel like he's back in the O with the space he'd have. Then dump Marleau somewhere for cap/roster space reasons and leave the rest of the lineup as is

The original question was for next year, don't know how Doughty gets put on posts.
Reality is for 2018/19, the Leafs only have 11m in UFA money, Just don't see that many splashes the Leafs can make. 2019/20 seems more likely.
Next year, the forwards . Hyman, Johnson, Marleau, Martin, Leivo. Matthews, Kadri, Aaltonen, Nylander, Marner, Brown, Kapanen. That's 12, If Nylander converts to centre, sure would make it easier for the Leafs to find wingers.
Grundstrom and Korshov might be NHLers at some time next year but maybe not in October.

Reilly, Gardiner, Dermot, Borgman, Zaitsev, Hainsey, Carrick? That Russian? Maybe use some UFA money for short term help.

You have about 50m for 6 Forwards most likely. You need another 7-8 and 80m cap to work with. Let's average those guys out to 2m each. 16m + 6m tenders = 22m + 50m = 72m not including Defense.
