Question, how on earth did the situation evolve from Zdeno Chara is returning next year to Zdeno Chara is exploring all NHL options? Just feels odd...

Since the organization was going to be as "brutally honest" as possible I will be too. Go full-on Chicago Bulls "Last Dance" and do what needs to be done after. Go sign someone like Hoffman and try to win the title. The B's absolutely can do it.

But after that? The window is pretty much closed. After that, you need to commit to a full-scale rebuild around guys like Pasta and McAvoy. You HAVE TO let the vets go. It's been 10+ years for many of these guys. You can't get sentimental about it.

Krejci is 34 and in the final year of his contract. Do not retain him. Send him out a champion.
Bergeron is 35 and will be entering the final year of his contract after this coming season. You do not retain him if he is not traded.
Chara is.... God what is he like 43? The era is over boys. Do not retain him. Send him out a champion.
Rask is UFA after this coming season. Do not retain him. Send him out a champion.
If I'm GM I ask Marchand what he wants to do and do my best to honor it given that he has a NMC.

You get the gist of where I'm going with this. Win the f***ing 'ship and start building the team that's gonna win the next one. And you go through with this no matter what. I'm very much aware my head would be paraded on a spike through the streets of Boston but I am also trying to be realistic.

The last thing you need is a bunch of dudes on the wrong side of 30 hanging onto 2010.

With you on Chara and Krejci. As is the team. Studnicka will get eased in this year and then take over Krejci. Chara very possibly has played his last game for Bruins, but if not, will come back in a bottom pair / PK specialist role one last time. Both those guys have replacements ready in McAvoy and Studnicka.

Blowing up the rest is an awful idea. The D is young. The wings are young sans 63. At center they have a lot of big middle six types as prospects, but they need a Bergeron replacement. That’s hard. Replacing Bergeron, Marchand and Rask and convincing Pasta and McAvoy to re-sign for the journey...that’s harder.

Bruins better off bringing back Rask at a lower cap hit to transition to being the 1B. Bruins better off bringing back Bergeron and reducing his work load until they can get lucky in draft or free agency.

A complete tear down won’t happen. They are too close to having the pieces for the next retool.

Cirelli could be the a solution to Bergeron getting older right? Not saying he has the elixir of making Bergeron 20 again but play as our 1C himself.

I understand your point, however, I see no impact on the team by replacing Ritchie and Wagner (by minor trades or buyout) with Frederick and Senyshyn as it is the fourth "energy" line. Ritchie and Wager are nothing special they are jags. Having attended several PBruin games and seeing them in person they are big bodies, good skaters and compete hard. Zboril is also NHL ready and they have a spot next to Carlo. A common gripe on the Bruins board is to play the kids and see what they can do or to trade them. Well here is the chance.

There is probably no room for Studnicka and Vaakanainen so they probably start in Providence.

You are under estimating Wagners value to this team. , he can kill penalties take face off and signed at cost friendly contract..........I agree lets find out what some of these kids can do ,Ritchie and Kase should be at the top of the list at getting moved.

I think their only hope is for the season to get canceled. Then we can pretend this off-season never happened, Fire the GM and try again next October
