I understand having hope and optimism that Cory will bounce back, but this is now a worrying trend of two straight years of poor play. His drop in play between 2015-2016 and the very next season was larger than a 38 year old (and over 1000 games played) Marty at the turn of the decade. His season has been very 2010-2012 Marty-like, only Marty would have the poor first halves and went on a tear in the second halves those years. Cory looked to bounce back early this year, this this death streak has pushed him down to regressing to last year’s level.

I don’t think he’s suddenly as bad as his last 12 games, that’s pretty hard to sustain, at some point the pucks will start hitting him on accident or by freak luck. I also don’t think he’s as good as he was before those 12 games started.

    I think he's somewhere in-between.

In other words. He's AVERAGE and for the amount of money the Devils are paying him, he's WAY OVERPAID then.

Sadly, the in between of what he was before the death spiral and in the death spiral is the .908 goalie he’s been the last two years.

He has a lot of good games and he has a lot of dreadfully bad games.
