The Flyers play first before us and Columbus...if the Flyers lose in regulation, then we can only play Pittsburgh (by passing CBJ) or the Caps (if we don't). If the Flyers do lose in regulation there's a distinct possibility our result won't even matter if CBJ wins their game cause we wouldn't be able to move down or up no matter what.

If the Flyers win or lose in OT then we could get bumped into the Atlantic bracket and play Tampa/Boston in the first round, or still play the Pens/Caps with a win.

My brain hurts. all I know is that whomever the Devils face is whomever the Devils face.

I hope Cory comes in and posts a shutout just to watch this board melt down

Meltdown?

I think we'd all be happy that he can still be an average-to-above-average goaltender still. He is no longer elite but at the very least we'd know we have a somewhat capable backup going into the playoffs and next season. :dunno:

I just went and checked out all our possible first round opponents play off threads. None of them want us, but none of them are “scared.” The only team that seems to think we’re the most favourable matchup is Washington.

No injuries, that’s all I care about tonight. First round is going to be fun no matter who we play.

None of them should be scared, they have better teams. I still wouldn't want to play us though, because even if they win we're going to wear their team down with all the skating they will have to do.

If you're not in the NJ/NY "market" you can watch tonight's game on the NHL Network.

Prob the Wash announcers who are not bad .
So that means I wont get it, I pay for every hockey related channel.... Center ice won't show it because it should be on NHL network. NHL network will play some "top 50" show because it should be on MSG, and MSG will just play golf replays or a rerun of a poker tourney..... Good to know.

So caps are going with holtby instead of grubauer, oshie and beagle out, boyd is injured and it may or may not change based off how flyers do

I would be ecstatic thinking we have 2 ready goaltenders

Ecstatic? This is a no-pressure game, even a good game today wouldn't really convince me one way or another on Cory being ready if he has to come into a big playoff spot. All it could do is make me more convinced Cory couldn't hack it in the postseason if he flops again.

If Cory plays today, how he performs is completely irrelevant. If he plays well, it doesn't mean he's suddenly good again, and if he flops nothing has changed.

That's better for the Devils to have their(Caps) top goaltender face them so our players can learn his tendencies, should we face them in the 1st round.

If anything, today's game is a game of analysis : How to score on Holtby.

High slot tips probably. That's usually the best strategy against these blimp goalies.

I dont wanna intefer with your guys gdt but holtby hasant been the number 1 goalie in a few months. Kinda like how kinkaid did to schnieder is like what grubauer did to holtby

Is he really their top goalie though? He's started eight of the last 19 games, and only recently has been on the plus side of the 50-50 share.

I think they've been trying to set it up so Holtby starts Game 1 the last week or so but I can't imagine he'd have a very long leash.

I keep throwing out positive vibes that somehow get turned into negative

I am conflicted. I can think your way and that makes sense to me. Then I think Kinkaid has been doing well managing hmself with the heavy workload of playing every other day and playing back to back so why break that string just to give Cory a look see and maybe screw Kinkaid's system up.

I guess I would start Cory unless as the day unfolds there is a major reason to win this game for some Devils benefit.

Go Devils

I can't stop saying congrats since I expected less up until February 13th when the worm turned thanks to Kinkaid
