Game 7 history notes
*Since Anaheim dropped "Mighty" from their nickname at the start of the 2006-07 season, they are 0-5 in Game 7s. They were 2-1 when they were the Mighty Ducks.
*The Oilers are 6-3 all-time in Game 7s. They won the second round in 1984 vs. Calgary, then lost at home in 1986 to the Flames on the infamous Steve Smith goal. They won the Stanley Cup final at home against the Philadelphia Flyers in 1987. They blew a 3-1 series lead to Wayne Gretzky and the Kings in 1989, losing game seven 6-3 in Los Angeles. They came back from a 3-1 deficit vs. the Winnipeg Jets in round one in 1990, won in overtime in Calgary in 1991 with Esa Tikkanen scoring a hat-trick, then won on the road in Dallas in 1997, highlighted by Curtis Joseph's incredible save on Joe Nieuwendyk and Todd Marchant's breakaway winning goal, and in Colorado in 1998, before losing the 2006 Stanley Cup Final in Carolina.
*The Ducks are 2-0 in Game 7 when they score first, both 3-0 victories, in 1997 vs. the Phoenix Coyotes and 2006 vs. the Flames.
*The Oilers have allowed a goal in the first two minutes of Game 7 four times:
1. Murray Craven scored 1:41 into the Cup final in 1987, but the Oilers rebounded to win 3-1.
2. Wayne Gretzky scored 52 seconds in and the Kings won 6-3 in 1989.
3. Benoit Hogue scored at 1:38 in Dallas, but Rem Murray scored seven seconds later and the Oilers won in OT in 1997.
4. Aaron Ward opened the scoring 1:26 into the 2006 Cup final and the Oilers couldn't recover, losing 3-1.
