Was there a worse draft than the 1999 draft?

Yeah, it does look weak at first glance, but I think we haveeto wait at least 1 more year to write it off. Most of those players still have big upsides.

I have no complaints with the Canucks getting the Sedins. They've been amazing!
Amazing :dunno: They have stepped up this year and will have career years though.

In 1991 Eric Lindros got drafted as nr 1....Peter Forsberg as nr 6 and Markus Näslund as nr 15...draftin is weard

If injuries didn't exist, Eric Lindros would come first, Peter Forsberg second and Markus Naslund third. Lindros won a Hart Trophy at the age of 22. Forsberg's career high in points is 116 in 75. Lindros's was 115 in 73. Naslund has scored 104 in 82. And Lindros was much more physical, and was responsible for bringing along John Leclair.

"Are you serious? Colin White is a top four defender for the New Jersey Devils and has won two Stanley Cups since being drafted. He's a solid physical stay at homer who has done a good job toning down his overagressiveness/penchant for taking bad penalties. Never panned out? Wow."

My post was laced with sarcasm......I was saying that the Pens made a bad trade and drafted a bad player who made bad plays........The only thing Skrbek ever did good for the Pens was get traded for Boughner.

While 96 was very weak, I would'nt say it was pathetic from first to last pick, here's some quality impact players that came out of that draft:

Derek Morris (Best player of the draft)
Zdeno Chara
Tomas Kaberle
Daniel Briere
Chris Phillips
Mark Parrish
Marco Sturm
Pavel Kubina
Tom Poti
Andreas Dackell

Pretty bad draft, yes, but some decent impact players came out as well.

The sad thing about the 96 draft was I remember thinking how stupid the Flames were for taking Morris in the first round! Good thing I'm not the one drafting.
