Malkin played like garbage this game. Also, he got called for roughing, not fighting, which doesn't even make sense.

No, his game was just bi-polar just as the rest of the Penguins game. His first half was a mess (even though he had a nice assist on the Kessel goal) but his second half was really good.

Malkin truly has an one of a kind ability to play like absolute garbage and still end up on the score sheet multiple times.

Garbage by his standards, which is still better than most. It's all relative.

Weird that he & Shattenkirk got roughing penalties rather than fighting majors though. It's not like they were just wrestling around, they were throwing punches.

Gloves were dropped too.

Very weird that it wasn't called as fighting.

Great players make great plays. They can play dry and shitty all game, but it just takes a single smart play to develop into a goal.

Great players make that happen more often than the average guy. That's what makes them great.

Chicken-shit league knows that if they call it fighting, Malkin has to sit for 5- and they probably have to give him the instigator in this instance, too.

Not saying anything against Malkin doing what he did, btw.

Maybe, but he's been given instigators and fighting penalties before. In the playoffs even. It would have been a weird time for them to be afraid to call it - in an early regular season game.

At this point linesmen should be suspended for breaking up fights so poorly. Easy for a player to get injured because of them.

They really should be breaking up no fights with willing combatants. It is becoming downright embarrassing how the NHL portrays itself.

Absolutely agreed. There was zero reason for them to break that up but they never let it get going. There was more risk to the other guy because Malkin was freer and was able to throw a couple shots.

Fixed that for you.

I loved after his fight with Shatt, he throws an extremely late uppercut to his face when the linesmen already ended the fight and the refs ignored it. Star treatment baby!
