How about other seasons, since apart from last year Killorn has always been on a 40 point pace in his career.
16-17 : Hedman, Stralman, Point, Drouin
15-16 : Hedman, Stamkos, Kucherov, Stralman
14-15 : Stamkos, Callahan, Stralman, Filppula
13-14 : Filppula, Purcell, Carle, Hedman

The point is not to make Killer look bad, it's that a raw comparison over the past years between those 2 players can't work since the coaching staff treated them in a very different way. That being said, we can all agree that nobody wants to repeat the mistake to hand a 7 years deal with a NTC to another complementary player.

I know that's who it says his most common linemates are, but they weren't all on the same line consistently the way Vladdy is with Stamkos and Kucherov. And even despite that, Killorn has produced mostly the same regardless of linemates. The same can not be said for Vladdy.

Also, we bitch about Killorn's contract even though he is a monster in the playoffs. Paying Vladdy more than 4 for what appears to be, at best, Killorn numbers unless he is playing with 2 top-5 players in the league and with no playoff pedigree. Big mistake.

The money on the Killorn's contract is fine. Most likely would've gotten around 4 million, but his playoff success got that 450k raise. That 7 years is pretty brutal though and could be very bad for us in the later years of that contract.

This is true. Namestnikov after 23 games, shared 370 minutes with them, Killer was around 600 minutes over 82 games. Namestnikov is literally glued to Stamkos and Kucherov. Killorn seems more consistent overall and his playoffs record speaks form himself, Namestnikov only finds another gear with skilled players, but it's a big one. Being eligible for arbitration, the kid is going to get paid tho. It'll depend on Yzerman and whether he believes Vladdy is part of the core, but salary cap-wise, it's doable to keep him for his last 2 RFA years without hampering the cap space. Then Kuch will need to get paid, and that's another story.

Not sure if we can keep him? He is not going to be worth big contract even if he gets good points alongside Kuch/Stam similar to Anisimov and if Yzerman is smart he should be trying to get Point on long and cheap contract but not sure if that is possible because we need to ink Kuch no matter what and hopefully he is getting big contract.

Killorns contract should be fine or atleast look better after the cap goes up. Same thing cant be said about Callahans contract tho.

He just completely disappears unless put on a line with both Stamkos and Kucherov, not just one he needs both. Stamkos also becomes a whole lot less effective away from Kuch but he's also cold right now and typically a player who scores in bunches anyways. Namestnikov isn't worth Killorn money, Killorn has actually been generating a ton from his line.

Killorn gets the exact same results no matter what line you put him on. He's not Kucherov, but he sure as hell isn't useless either. Is he a tad overpaid? Probably. Is it better to overpay a few bucks and make sure we have a guy who's consistently performed and has playoff experience and knows our team's chemistry? I'd argue yes.

Names will not be getting dollar for dollar as Killorn. Simply not enough money to go around. Not to mention he's not nearly as effective WITHOUT Kucherov. Like Sky said, Stamkos had unreal performance out the door and is in a tad of a slump. I'd bet we see him break out shortly.

Back to Names though, we won't be letting him walk. We'll give him the option to stay or we'll deal him. He's not an untouchable on the team by any means and there are multiple players we keep before we choose Names over them.
