Brookstreet or holiday inn depending on how much u want to spend.

Brookstreet is more posh, holiday inn is closer to what shopping and nightlife Kanata can provide.

Home opener against the Islanders last year had a pretty good atmosphere, actually. Don't see why it would be any different this year. It'll die off as we get into the season, though.

I don't know what there is in terms pre-game stuff, but check the first post for things to do in the city.

Hey All

I'm heading to ottawa next month for the habs game on 23rd
I was wondering if anybody had any hotel suggestions near the arena and night life suggestions for after the game maybe?

Is there a casino near by.. or bars etc..? thanks

Read the last 10 posts, lol. They merged your thread with this one.

There's a casino just across the river in Quebec. Google it.

Okay, this isn't really a "visitor" question, as I just moved to Ottawa.

But I am wondering the best option for internet at home. I'm fairly cheap.

What's the best option out there? Bell? Rogers? Are there better options?

Thanks.

I'm planning to go back to see the folks today and tomorrow.
I was wondering what there is unique to Ottawa to buy for my girl in Toronto?

Hey guys I didn't read through the whole thread but I am going to Montreal-Ottawa on October 23rd. What do you recommend as the best place to stay for a hotel? Also, if I stay at a friends downtown, is there adequate transit to the rink a few hours before game time and how much does it cost? Thanks

There are busses specifically to shuttle people out to the games from all over the city. I'm from the East end so I don't know what number it would be from downtown, but it wouldn't be hard to find.

Price wise it's about $3 bucks, so chump change if you're shelling out for tickets and food/beverage, ect..

Just go to the OC Transpo website and they will have the info on the special busses for games. I believe there's one that leaves from Rideau Centre and Ottawa U.

404 and 406, maybe more. It doesn't really matter which, just go to the Pinecrest station around 6pm and hop on the first 400 series.

I wouldn't be able to catch it at that time. It's for work, so i'd have to leave earlier around 2

Oh, getting to SBP by bus is impossible during the day. Take the 96 to Terry fox (~20 minute walk from Centrum to SBP), posters from Kanata should know if a local bus can get you closer but outside of rush hour I don't think you can get closer than Palladium/Terry Fox.

Me and a bunch of crazy (but respectful ;)) Bruins fans will be there on the 30th. Most of us have seen the Bruins in Ottawa before and all agree it is the best place to see the black and gold on the road. Didn't notice last time if tailgating is permitted in the parking lot. Anyone have any info on this? Thanks!

It is not officially condoned but if you park in one of the outer lots you shouldn't have a problem (but you could, no guarantees...)

Looking for opinions on the Coca-Cola section @ SBP from anyone that has attended. Is it too docile and family oriented? I know it is zero alcohol. The beer situation isn't too bad.

I've done it, you should be okay. If you want a beer just chug it before you go back to your seat.

I've only taken the 401 for the west half of the trip, so I don't know the full story. Yes it gets caught, but things clear up past Bayshore and the arrival time accounts for the traffic anyway.
