At Letsgokings.com there is a ticket exchange forum where a lot of season ticket holders go to sell their tickets for STH price. I was just wondering if there was a place like that for Wings tickets.

Hockeytown Cafe, Chelis chilli bar, hockeytown authentics. I'm about a three hour drive away, those are just a couple that I know of.

I've posted in the Kings forum asking a similar question and you guys were really helpful, so I suppose I should return the favor.

H-town Cafe and Cheli's Chili are both good suggestions but Hockeytown Authentics is really just a glorified Red Wings/Tigers merch store and it's a 20 minute drive from Detroit, so I wouldn't suggest that for a Kings fan.

As far as hotel rooms in Detroit, I've stayed at the following and they were pretty nice. All of these are pretty close and have easy access to JLA via free shuttles at most of the surrounding bars/restaurants, or there's always a cab...

I don't know of anything in the city that's "cheap" and fairly safe/tourist friendly. Maybe the Greektown Casino hotel (or one of the other casinos) is cheaper but I've never stayed in any of those hotels.

I'm a guy from Denmark(Scandinavia) who will be visiting Detroit in late november, to watch the Wings display pure aweseomeness.

Is the official DRW shop the place to go for gear(reasonable price, quality)?

You can get anything at Hockeytown Authentics that you can get at the Joe. I like getting things at the Joe because they don't charge you tax for merchandise. At Hockeytown Authentics there is tax (6%).

IDK if you plan to hit up some bars, but Old Shillelagh offers a shuttle to and from the games.

I have used it a few times and it has been a great experience. For the record though i have never used it to get back to my car.

I have also parked in random lots that charge 10-20 bucks that are located all around the Joe. 5-10 minute walk after that.

Parking anywhere downtown is a *****, but expect to pay about $10-20. If it comes down to it, use a bar shuttle or even park in one of the lots along Woodward and catch the People Mover.

as long as you both have student ids you can get tickets next to each other. There have been times where fans have been able to get seats on the glass. Lower bowl tickets for student range from $35-$45.

Hi, I'm planning to go to watch a game vs. Anaheim in JLA on Saturday. Now I'm just wondering if it's possible to ask the players to give their autographs after the game? How long does it take for players to come out of the arena and where's the place they come out located?

Not hockey related, but I need secure long term parking w/shuttle service at the Detroit airport for 10 days from Nov 9th - 19th.

Any recommended places for this? I found plenty on line, but most seem to be attached to hotels.

Me and a friend are thinking of visiting Detroit this spring possibly, and we haven't really been in the US before (I've only been there as a child), and so part of the reason we'd want to go is to watch the Wings in action. We're thinking of making it mainly an east coast trip (New York, Washington DC), and going to Detroit somewhere in the middle of that, but we're not sure. Point being, do you guys figure it's worth sticking around in Detroit (or any other part of Michigan) as far as cultural/sightseeing stuff goes? We're not too sure what there is in terms of stuff to see or places to visit, so if any native of MI/Detroit could give us a hint, that'd be swell! Also, some people here pointed out that the public transportation barely exists, is this true? Would a rental car be to prefer?

That's a lot of ground to cover, I love going up north or along the west side of the state along Lake Michigan (Ludington, up to TC/Leelanu, the Sleeping Bear Dunes), and then up to the U.P.

However, if you're trying to go to a game, I would probably just stick around the metro area, maybe go to the DIA, the Zoo, the Henry Ford. I love the architecture downtown, and parts of Belle Isle. Most of the 'burbs are just urban sprawl and malls.

My favorite restaurant is Slows, west of the old Tiger Stadium, in Corktown (if you like BBQ) - I never spent much time downtown otherwise, Hockeytown Cafe is worth seeing I suppose, but it's a glorified bar. If time permits, I would try to see a Tigers game too.

I drive by it almost everyday when i go to work and the area is pretty safe. It's close enough to the Grosse Pointe's that people wont try to pull something stupid.

I forgot about Mexicantown...I know everyone has their favorite, mine is Mi Peublo.

And Plaka is good for breakfast in Greektown.

Corktown has been getting pretty cool recently. There are all sorts of coffee shops, art galleries, bars and of course Slow's (amazing southern bbq place) on Michigan Ave.

There are also places around midtown including: College for Creative studies, DIA (World Class Art Museum), Wayne State, Scarab Club, International Center, Cass Cafe, Northern Lights Lounge, Alvin's, The Traffic Jam, Motor City Brewery, Magic Stick (Majestic Cafe, Garden Bowl, Magic Stick Venue), Union Street Grille, Circa Saloon, Biblo's and the list goes on and on.

Downtown is pretty much covered by everyone else but if you like middle-eastern food or even love garlic you NEED to try the Chicken Schwarma at Bucharest right behind the Fox Theatre. Amazing food and a really cool bar. There are also bars in that area: State Bar, Cliff Bells (great jazz club) and numerous sports bars around the stadiums and theatre district.

Hello Red Wings fans,

I'm probably going to make the Thursday game vs. Phoenix. I haven't been to "The Joe" since *gasp* Nick Polano was the coach and Stevie Y was just getting started.

I'm going to the game alone, so I just need one ticket. What can I expect to pay a scalper for a good seat-or a bad seat-for that matter? Also, where would I find the majority of the scalpers on game day?
