Beside the info on Hemsky, pretty uneventful article. Seems kind of odd to put a flag for a prospect just because he listed video games as a hobby.

He states in the video that it's not a concern of sorts, but a red flag as the person could be playing with their friends in Europe while in North America..

Canadiens are constantly trying to refine the tools used to assess players. The combine brought together 104 of the top prospects for fitness testing and interviews, and Timmins said University of New Brunswick psychologist David Scott was part of the process.
“Dr. Scott developed an online personality behavioural assessment tool, which the players fill out during the season and Dr. Scott takes all that information into our interview room with myself and Shane Churla, our director of amateur scouting,” said Timmins. “Dr. Scott will highlight things, like maybe a player lacks confidence and he’s devised questions about the confidence and try to flesh out whether what we see in the interview matches up with what we see on the ice.”

The emphasis will be on finding players with an upside.“We want players with character and we’ll be looking at speed because it’s a fast game,” said Timmins. “Size isn’t as important.

On the 31 thoughts podcast they discussed a recent top 10 pick who’s junior coach said is addicted to video games and may never make the nhl as a result....they wouldn’t name names however.

I'd rather these guys play video games than go to bars. No one was ever arrested playing games at 2 am.
Much less partied away their entire salary while staying home. You can still be social buy a lot of games, even drink at home. But in the long term it is better for you than the nightlife. And lets face it. Most pro sports guys don't have problems picking up, even in a city where no one knows your name. Swagger and being relatively in shape is likely enough.

I'm sure this is in response to the rumour that Olli Juolevi is killing his career because of video game addiction.
Was it concluded that it was Juolevi? Thought the rumour mentioned a player in juniors, Juolevi played Liiga this season and by the looks of it did alright.

Might as well scout Olympic speed skating. Annoying how this team never talks about hockey skills.

Not on this site, but elsewhere (Twitter) he was named as the player. Apparently, he had a bit of an up and down year and was in and out of the line-up. The club is working with him on it.

“I’m not saying video games are a bad thing. It’s just if they’re not getting enough rest and recuperation then it becomes a problem.”

Yawn. You could say the same thing about players staying up too late reading. Or watching Netflix. Or playing Tiddly Winks. Or baking pies. Or...
