He’s returned to the AHL so the moment is probably slightly bittersweet, but New Jersey Devils‘ forward Joe Whitney netted his first NHL goal – the only goal scored by the Devils – in a 3-1, New Year’s Eve loss to the Detroit Red Wings.
Whitney’s goal was the first of the game, coming at 15:37 of the second period. The Devils had worked the puck into the right corner of the Red Wings’ zone, but the Wings had gained control of the puck and looked to be in good shape to move the puck up ice.… read more
