As more and more people were betting on Vegas, why bookies were not adjusting odds to offset the risk? Oh yeah they got greedy. Cry me a river now...

So does that mean that contrary to the conspiracies going around, the Final might be rigged against Vegas? :sarcasm:

Just good publicity for them. At worse a book or two is going to lose a million after hedging some of the risk out over the course of the year. They lose more than that on bad football weekends. Not even a worry to the casinos, but they are enjoying making noise about it because a lot of people are talking about it.

They won't be that bad off. They'll make a large sum of money on people who DIDN'T bet on Vegas to win.

I have no doubt they'll be fine. Though I would question how much hedging is available since we're talking about a Vegas based team that probably got a lot of futures bet across all the sports books in Nevada.

Is this a case Vegas(Sports Betting) will lose money or they just won't make as much as if Washington or Tampa wins? I have to guess the later

Somewhere on Uranus
this is free advertising for the bookies

if you take a step back and ask yourself this question

How many oiler, leaf (fill in your teams name) placed a bets on their team to win it this year? that will off set the loses of they suffer

also--how many people will now put down $10 on the long shots next year in not only Hockey, but for Baseball, Basketball and Football

Wen Leicester won the EPL we saw these stories. This year BBC did a segment on how many people placed bets on long shots across the board and by the reaction of the guys who ran the bookies here in the UK--the Bookies made a mint off of people thinking a 200-1 long shot would do it again

Right, if anything more and more people will bet on Vegas winning it all in hopes on cashing in and the bookers will get their cash back and then some.

You'll have to explain this logic. Bookies set to lose a bundle if Vegas wins, but they'll get their cash back and then some because more people bet on Vegas to win?

Before season debut LVK winning odds were what...175 to 1. Now they are what, 2 to 1 ?

Ok sure if Vegas wins they will ''lose'' money but they won't lose as much as people here are expecting because very few persons bet on Knights winning it all.
