Think this is a good low cost move for Vancouver. If it works out, great, if not, it's not like it cost much.

Always had that feeling that we'll get rid of Jordan Subban without him really getting a long look. What's Nic Dowd like?

Whats the scouting report on Dowd for someone whos never watched him before?

He's a good play maker, throws big hits, and he struggles with consistency. His play making ability is very solid, but he is prone to making idiotic plays defensively. He never got a good look on the Kings either. He can be a good pick up if he cleans up his game and gets confident.

What about Jordan here?

Offensive minded d-man. Likes to man the point on the PP and is solid at rushing the puck up the ice. Sometimes a liability in his own zone but he's gotten better at it as he's progressed. Has poor positioning once in a while defensively. Definitely needs to work on his defensive side of the game.

Didn't really get a chance with the big club here other than preseason.

I hope he works out for you guys.

Sounds like a Benning pickup to me!

Jordan's offensive abilities (playmaking, shot, skating) are probably NHL level but his defensive game is pretty bad. He never figured it out, but also never got a single game with the Canucks. Could be a PP specialist eventually (?)

Liked Jordan when I saw him in prospect games against the Oilers. I guess Stecher leapfrogged him?

He'd be a good winger, he's not a good defenseman. Generates offence well but just not good in his own end at even the AHL level.

Subban was never getting a chance here. Even last year when our defense was decimated he didn't get a look.

It's a meh trade but i understand it. Just would have been better to recoup draft picks.

I think you guys will like Subban. A nice change of scenery will do wonders to his game. Where does he slot into your depth chart? Ontario?
For sure Ontario and probably wouldn't even be one of the first 2 guys recalled if the Kings called up a d-man. LaDue and Gravel I would assume are ahead of him on the depth chart.

A bit disappointing they couldn't parlay Jordan Subban into something a bit more exciting back when he was rolling offensively at least. He was always going to be on the outs with his lack of reach and stature and suspect approach to defensive hockey. Hard to say his value would've been particularly high at that point either though, as a diminutive offensive Defenceman with serious defensive shortcomings putting up points in the AHL doesn't exactly move the needle as an NHL acquisition until the guy actually proves he can hack it at that level.

Should be mentioned Subban was healthy scratched in the AHL. He is awful defensively.
