Hagg, Straka and Ghost are the only waiver-exempt guys who make 925K.

why would Straka and Hagg be up before? Straka shouldnt even sniff the NHL right now in any way

just go to capgeek and see the roster there. All we have to do to be cap compliant before the season starts is place Pronger on LTIR after camp

Try actually reading the post next time. :shakehead As soon as the deadline passes, Straka and Hagg would be demoted to create $1.85 million in cap space, and Bellemare would be called up.

If all you do is LTIR Pronger on capgeek you are left with only $5,000 in cap space and with an injured Ryan White as one of the 13 forwards with no room for Bellemare. So no, it's not that simple.

@capgeek
Opening day playing rosters must be set by Tuesday, Oct. 7, at 5 p.m. ET. Those rosters must be cap compliant.

@capgeek
As we tweeted yesterday, the Hawks and Bruins are the only two teams facing cap-compliance issues. Only the Hawks *need* to make a move.

This is a roster where they demote Schultz, keep Morin, and LTIR Kimmo, Pronger and White BEFORE Tuesday's deadline. I believe that White can't just be demoted because he is injured. Hagg and Straka are paper recalls, while Jones and PEB are paper demotions.

FORWARDS
Brayden Schenn ($2.500m) / Claude Giroux ($8.275m) / Jakub Voracek ($4.250m)
Michael Raffl ($1.100m) / Vincent Lecavalier ($4.500m) / R.J. Umberger ($4.600m)
Matt Read ($3.625m) / Sean Couturier ($1.750m) / Wayne Simmonds ($3.975m)
Jay Rosehill ($0.675m) / Zac Rinaldo ($0.750m) / Jason Akeson ($0.575m)
Ryan White ($0.575m) / Petr Straka ($0.925m)
DEFENSEMEN
Andrew MacDonald ($5.000m) / Braydon Coburn ($4.500m)
Nicklas Grossmann ($3.500m) / Mark Streit ($5.250m)
Michael Del Zotto ($1.300m) / Luke Schenn ($3.600m)
Samuel Morin ($0.894m) / Robert Hagg ($0.925m)
Chris Pronger ($4.941m) / Kimmo Timonen ($2.000m)
GOALTENDERS
Steve Mason ($4.100m)
Ray Emery ($1.000m)
BURIED
Nick Schultz ($0.325m)

(estimations for 2014-15)
SALARY CAP: $69,000,000; CAP PAYROLL: $75,755,595; BONUSES: $2,000,000
CAP SPACE (26-man roster): -$6,755,595

After Tuesday's 5pm deadline, Hagg and Straka are demoted to create $1.85 million in cap space. Then they can recall PEB and Jones and still have $625K in cap space.

This roster falls $760,834 short of fully maximizing cap space, but I can't think of a way to get closer except for paper demoting Akeson and paper recalling Laughton. And that runs the risk of another team claiming Akeson.

Hey ladies and gents, just curious how has Schenn, Coots, and Voracek been looking this preseason so far?

Translation: I have a fantasy draft this weekend!

They've all looked pretty good. Couturier still looks to be defense first, but Schenn has looked pretty good and Voracek looks to be on the same level as last year.

Expect a career high in points for Both B.Schenn and Voracek. Actually Voracek is looking like he might finally make the jump to elite status. Coturier looks solid, but too early too tell if he will have a career high in points. Defensively hell be top 5 in thd league.
