Loving that new PP unit. At 5v4 I didn't like having Kane and Gaudreau together - they were way too eager to feed each other.

I've liked Kane and Atkinson together, but not huge on Lee / Gaudreau and Kreider / Debrincat. I think Debrincat has earned a shot with Gaudreau, would be a shot in the arm to our top 6 imo..

Kinkaid gave that game away. US was playing really well and then he gives up a ridiculous goal, gives up momentum, and then gives up another ridiculous goal, albeit that one involved some bad luck. The third and fourth goals were also awful rebounds all on Kinkaid. Update: fifth goal was awful too.

Finland always plays us really well and they're not a team you can afford to gift a lead. They're always the most structured team in every tournament and when you go down, they do a great job getting under your skin, cutting off your time, and frustrating you into taking yourself out of the game. All of which happened today thanks to Kinkaid.

Couldnt have gotten a crappier draw: Czechs, Canada or Russia, then Finns or Swedes. Thats just great

Don't follow this tournament often, is this the usual level of goaltending talent that comes over?

Doesn't seem to be a single starter caliber NHL goalie on any of the major teams this year.

what a garbage game, God Finland plays ugly hockey. But like others have said, this better wake them up as Norway and Korea are done...need to be better, need 2nd chances, need pressure...can't coast out there anymore. US looked like they were going through the motions for most of it, facing the Czechs is going to be a battle, nobody to blame but themselves if they get bounced...but to be fair, the Swiss is a team I hate to play, I think they give this Finland team some fits...

Ugly hockey ? Oh sweet lord....

How would you describe Team USA’s respect for the opponent’s health in the last 10 min after the game was allready over ?
You have such a good team this year, capable of playing some really nice hockey and a good chance of going all the way.... then you see this embarrasing behaviour from your star players....

Never understood how a Fin team could beat BOTH the U.S. and Canada...and yet lose to Denmark and Germany.

Most of the really good goalies are kind of busy. That or recovering from having gone through a long season. You have a couple of good goalies from outside the NHL, but most years the guys that generally show up aren't exactly powerhouse guys. A lot of them come hoping to find something after a disappointing season.

I am hoping for a lot better effort against the Czechs. We need to do a better job of fighting through to the middle of the ice and winning more individual battles. They just weren't good enough this morning.

I don't know why but I have always had a good feeling anytime we play Slovakia or the Czechs...as long as Hasek doesn't show up in the nets, I really do think we can do this. That team has simply relied on 2 guys from Boston (not the Band Boston of course) to get them here..I think it runs dry for them against a deeper team. And though it sucks to watch, I am glad we got our asses kicked right now instead of that type of game in elimination round - they got their dud out of the way, wake up call has been received, now its time to put it together and play a complete game they are capable of doing.

Like you said, we have to get more net presence and rebounds...we cannot be one and done here. We have some big bodies wingers that can cause havoc down below, and for the love of God, Lee has to start getting those tip ins on net!! Also need some help from the point, have to get more shots on goal, give our guys a chance around the net to do what they do best. Too many shots missed the net or never got through against Finland, cannot happen again. The Czechs are riding high and will come out flying, just need to use the talent we have and hit them first, we can do this, keep the pressure off Kinkaid and let him settle in.

it is the way they play their games, they have a tougher time against teams that want to grind it out, stifle you like they do..but a team like the US/Canada wants to go North and South, wants transition games that utilizes our speed and talent...that is not what the Fins want, which is odd because they have the skill to be a team like that..they know what they need to do when they play North America, and as I said above, it isn't pretty but gets results. Predators hockey on roids..

They’ve played like that for as long as I can remember. It works for the most part so can’t argue it. Got like 4 bronze medals and a silver in the past two decades of the Olympics
