Hello gentlemen,

I have uploaded what I have done otherwise this league won't get going.

IT IS NOT COMPLETE.

The player vitals pages ( salaries ) and Futures still needs to be updated properly. For some of the players, the salaries have been rolled back while some have not *grumbles at sim*. Finances, please only note your balances only. Payrolls is connected to the vitals page.

The rosters should be almost complete. I just need to add the Forsbergs types plus I need to get rid of a few like Rodivan Somik ( Bad trade :( for me ). The most important pages to do anything for you trading GM types are the rosters pages and finance pages.

If you want the old one, instead of NEW type OLD. http://www.hfnhl.com/OLD/hfnhl.....

If there are still some mistakes. POST ON HERE!.

I would like to thank Drew and Sean K for this getting me this far.

Things I noticed with the Rangers- (and these may be things that are in process)

1. All of my players except Dan Cleary are on my farm team for some reason :)
2. Paul Kariya's contract info is wrong. I signed him last FA period, and I definitely signed him for more than 1 year. The 9M salary is also higher than what I paid from what I remember. I've lost the original email messages, so hopefully this is on record somewhere.
3. I signed Sandy McCarthy, Brad Larsen, Shjon Podein but they are missing from my roster. I signed my RFA Ethan Moreau, but he is not listed. I signed prospect Juraj Kolnik, but he is also missing.
4. I requested that Cory Stillman be moved to RW and provided a link a long time ago... he is still at LW.
5. No big deal, but please change Aebischer to #31, Schwab to #30, Mark Savard to #27, Swanson to #56. Obviously no major priority...

I don't know, maybe I'm the only one but I can't see the updated rosters.

Through the site, the rosters aren't updated, with the last being Feb 20th, and then the link supplied above doesn't work.

That was probably because you don't have a full team, in your situation not enough RW from memory.

I will look into this. As for Moreau, can you send me the email because I definitely know he was not signed during the FA period.

4. I requested that Cory Stillman be moved to RW and provided a link a long time ago... he is still at LW.

Hmm... I thought I did this. Apparently not.

5. No big deal, but please change Aebischer to #31, Schwab to #30, Mark Savard to #27, Swanson to #56. Obviously no major priority...

The numbers I gave bad luck or something, Sean? :P

Brock and Hasnain -

try this http://www.hfnhl.com/NEW/hfnhlRosters.html

The reason why the other link didn't work was because its was an example one. I hadn't realise that it turned into a link. So if you want to compare to the old ones, replace NEW with OLD. The ones on Dryden's website has slightly different names. Hence, it still shows the old ones.

Dion, awesome job.

Everything is awesome on my roster except for the whole Garnett Exelby thing still. His rating isn't what it should be. In the newest updated ratings on the yahoo message group, his ratings are different (for the better and more accurate). So for some reason, Exelby's new ratings just havent been updated yet.

Just to help you find it for some sort of proof, he's number 400 in the newest excel rating file.

But other then that, awesome, awesome job dion.

Oh, just one question, to the league more then Dion. What's going to happen with players who have been in Europe for a while or who are sticking there this season. I know I have some of those players (Rob Reichel, Petr Buzek, etc), as does everyone else I'm sure. Are we still going to be taking them off the rosters, or because of the lockout confusion are we going to be leaving them on for now?

Could be... but with the moves I have made in the last month or so, I should have more than enough players. By my count, I have 6 RWs under contract (including Stillman who is being moved to RW), 5 LW, 4 C, 7 D, 2 G

I will check and see if I have it, but I don't think I do. I assumed the league kept record of these things ;)

Thanks for putting your time into gettings things up and running.... everything for the most part looks really good. Just need to get a few little things ironed out.

Sean G - At the time, I still hadn't had place in Sandy McCarthy, Brad Larsen, Shjon Podein. I'll look in yahoo groups for their contracts. Which means you do have a full team.

Nick - Can you help us out with Moreau's contract and the above mentioned contracts. I definitely know that I didn't get it in the mail.

Hasnain - http://www.hfnhl.com/OLD/hfnhlFutures.html

Billy - Can you email me the Bonk for Belfour Trade. I didn't get it from Rich. I was getting around to Forsberg.

Dryden - I'll insert Ron Francis while Billy reminds me of insertion.

Players in Europe this season who do not return to NA before the cut-off (October 1st, Matt?) will not be available for the HFNHL 05/06 season.

October 1st is, indeed, the cut-off date.

Dion - seems to be a bit of a rating problem for my entire roster...;).

Not that I don't mind Anti Laaksonen having an 85 overall...but Marty Turco at a 72..., not to mention Wade Redden down on the farm at OV 61 ;). My entire roster is a screwy!

When you get a chance - could you restore the appropriate ratings to my roster!

Many thanks,

Question,

Is it possible for the players whom I currently have that are going to be playing in Europe this year for sure (Reichel, Buzek, Davidson, Laukkanen, Valiquette, Lasak) to be moved to my prospect list and then me include them in the current round of prospect releases that Matt is compiling?

Anyone finally figure out that by maintaining the standard that if a player is about to play in Europe or retire for this season should be removed from the HFNHL just doesn't make sense and is in fact making this league more and more compicated than it should be. Oh and don't use the comment that if they aren't playing in the NHL then they shouldn't be playing in our league. Because there are many rookies that are playing in the NHL that won't get used till there ratings are up to speed. Plus think about all the extra work your forcing down Dion or whomever does the sim. Pus with the mass exodus going on right now with players deciding its better to play in Europe now then it is to pay in the NHL...we're going to have no one left to fill out all our rosters.

I seriously think this rule makes no sense. Why should I have to wait 2 years for a player to build up his rating but lose said payer the day he decides to move to Europe or retire especially if he played in the NHL the previous year. So a 10 year NHL career is only a 6 or 7 HFNHL career? Just doesn't add up.

I hear you Dryden. The most I could see is allowing a one-year delay, however, because our ratings are based on the previous NHL season. If a given player was not playing in the NHL in the previous season, it makes it very difficult to accurately assess a rating for them (for example, I imagine we're going to have a tough time deciding on ratings for Oleg Tverdovsky...).

We're not trying to make the league more complicated - we're trying to apply a consistent standard to ensure it's fair for everyone. If you feel that standard should be that players are available in the HFNHL through the season after they return to Europe or retire, then we can have that debate, but we do need to reflect that a) NHL teams do lose players and are often left scrambling for replacements (just ask Atlanta with Pasi Nurminen possibly retiring due to injury), and b) we don't want to make e already difficult rating process harder than absolutely necessary.

I don't see why not, given that they've "walked out" on their contract obligations to you. Anyone see any objections?

Yeah it's definitely a complicated situation, especially this year with so many guys leaving. I guess one thing that could be done would be allowing the one year delay, as you mentioned Doug. And then freezing said players ratings. And if he doesn't come back that second season, then he is gone. And that would give a team who would have depth concerns, enough time to find a replacement.

Or we could devise some system of rolling back their ratings for every year they arent in the NHL. Such as a 10% rollback.

But in the end it all comes down to whatever is easiest for the Sim. Most likely a question for Dion. Is it easier just to remove these players leaving for Europe and place them on prospect lists OR releasing them. Or is it easier to deal with them the following year, when we'd have to implement some new form of ratings, or what be it.

Hi Dion,

Any idea when the roster errors might be fixed up? The ratings for my roster remain humorous - none the less very incorrect! Not to mention the disorganization of players between the farm and pros. ( with the correct ratings, that wouldn't be to shabby a farm team ;) ) Many thanks!
