No, because it's a fact.

Roy - Stajan had a better season than Derek Roy in the NHL... and he played himself onto the NHL roster out of training camp. Forcing the manager to let a veteran go (Travis Green). He didn't rely on injuries to play in the league.

Upshall - Stajan spent the season in the NHL... on one of the top teams in the East while Scottie Upshall spent it in the minors. Considering this tournament would take place "this month", Stajan is clearly ahead of Upshall in development.

Stoll - Stajan and Stoll are similar in style, but the only tie-breaker is that Stajan had a better season at a younger age.
It doesn't matter, because Antoine Vermette deserves to be on the team over Stajan anyway. ;)

Where is Dan Blackburn?? Blackburn was a first round pick and yes he has been injured but he played in 63 games in the NHL and when Richter went down played in 19 straight games before Dunham came to the Rangers. Blackburn was carrying the Rangers at one point. Emery is a 4th round pick and only played 6 games in the NHL and on a better defensive team in the Sens.

Blackburns one of my favorite goal tenders but I just don't see him bouncing back yet from his injuries.... its terrible to think that.. but its just the way i feel.

Why, because he is a Leaf? Maybe ahead of Roy but definitely not ahead of the other 3. Leaf fans :shakehead

As always people doubt Derek Roy... If he played in this tournament it would not be a bold statement to say he would probably be one of if not Canada's leading scorer... he's that good.

I would take Doug Lynch and Aaron Johnson over Phaneuf and Coburn. The guys already are AHL all-stars and Johnson has 29 decent NHL games under his belt, while Phaneuh and Coburn still have to play their first pro game.

Aaron Johnson was highly taken into consideration.... and I just felt as an extra D it would be better to pick Coburn/.. cause ure not losing anything by taking him.... and Lynch just doesn't fit in...

I don't think Earl would make it, to be honest.

It's not necessarily the best possible team, however I think it's a team with balanced lines, and a good combination of different players.

I'd like to see who you'd ice, Rabid. If you have the time to put one together.
I was kidding about Earl.

(just to make it clear)

I agree with you. Earl probably won't make the team. As for my other comments, I think they came out wrong. I think the team you put together is the best. I was joking with leafaholix about him wanting to have Earl on the team.

Polushin would make that team ahead of Suglobov, Shishkanov and maybe Perezhogin too. Among other things, he has a great history of performing at the WJC.

He is but he plays for Russia, well he did at the WJC anyway.

I knew he played for them. Why in the hell is he allowed to do that? or anyone for that matter? Citizenship? Or because when he was born it was the USSR

Canada's Second Team:

They are so deep in talent they could field a second team in this tournament and do well. See my origianl team posted to see which players have already been chosen.

Goalies:
Dan Blackburn
Josh Harding
David Leneveu
Defence:
Aaron Johnson
Doug Lynch
Jeff Woywitka
Brenden Bell
Brent Seabrook
Mark Popovic
Matt Spiller
Shaone Morrison
Forwards:
PM Bouchard
Eric Staal
Kyle Wanvig
Chuck Kobesew
Antoine Vermette
Matt Stajan
Garth Murray
Jay McClement
Brad Boyes
Jared Aulin
Kyle Wellwood
Jordin Tootoo
Anthony Stewart
Mike Richards

I think this team could give Russia a go for the silver...... very good squad... Russia would probably be too much offensively for them though.

I thought you were, but wasn't sure. I agree with you that he's an exciting player to watch though (based on the very little that I've seen).

Ah, I was just hoping to see a different team. Unfortunately, we don't have a deep pool of talent like Canada has to have a few different variations.

Yeah, but the best we have to offer can compete with anyone in the world, and in the end, that's all that matters.

FINNtastic, I am not sure if your second or first team means that 13 best forwards are on first team and rest in second... Anyway if this is like it I could not understand how you have ranked players like Leino, Pesonen or Lahti ahead of Marjamäki and Laine? And if based only for last season performance I would promote Mika Rontti to the first team. And Juha Kiilholma would surely fit into the second team instead of any of the fourth line or Juntunen.

If you are talking about Teemu Laine then there is a reason the guy isn't on the team. He has stone hands and no creativity.

I don't see any reason to rank Marjamäki, a junior player ahead of Leino (54 gp, 24 points), Pesonen (56: 29) and Lahti (43:20), who all had nice seasons in SM-liiga. Marjamäki is obviously a good prospect and plays physical game, but I just don't see how he could do better than these guys right now.
