I just noticed that Union College goalie Darion Hanson transferred to UConn for the upcoming season and the Huskies also have a promising freshman coming in from the BCHL.

Is it a given that Hanson starts and where does this put the Huskies in terms of their Hockey East prospects?

Nothing's a given at the Division I level. There'll be good competition for the starting job through preseason and into the non-conference schedule. Most college coaches try and get each guy in a few games before making a decision.

To me, UConn projects as a middle-of-the-pack team in HE. They're not nearly as good as BC, UMass Amherst or BU. They're the "best of the rest."
