Four countries are participating in the August 3-10 U20 evaluation camps in Lake Placid including scrimmages between USA, Sweden, Finland, and this year, Canada, too. Some of the countries are starting camp and then bringing a team to Lake Placid for the scrimmages. Note ’93s are no longer eligible for WJC U20; have to be born in ’94 or more recently for the next tournament.

@coreypronman: DiPauli-Copp-McCarron impressed in the scrimmage yesterday as a "grind line". Likely will play the same role today.

This Burakowsky (as listed on the USA Hockey site Sweden roster for this camp) and Burakovsky at NHL draft time, is already causing me headaches.

Glad that Djoos is healthy enough to be participating in this camp.

Some additional information about coverage.

Adam Kimelman’s has WJC camp blog at nhl.com

Some people covering the camp are using the following twitter hashtag: #NJEC ; I’ve seen some #WJC & #WJC2014 and for USA specific information, some are tagging tweets with #USAHockey, but most appear to be using NJEC.

The USA Hockey site continues to add information and is the best resource for schedule, stats, etc.

Caps prospects :)

‏@chrismpeters
Connor Carrick steps up into the play, puts a nice shot past Saros. Terrific pass from fellow Caps prospect Riley Barber. Great vision.

Assume Carrick and Barber are locks to be on the team post-cuts for Team USA this week. DiPauli not sure about based on what appears to be limited ice time/role in the first 2 scrimmages. Team Canada now in Lake Placid, too.

Haven't seen much about DiPauli and wasn't able to watch the scrimmages yesterday or today. He had a roughing penalty today; looking at line charts people posted, he played on the fourth line. TeamUSAWhite 5 Finland 2 in day 2 scrimmage.

Djoos and Carrick each had an assist in SWE 4-3 win over TeamUSABlue; Carrick and Barber both had penalties, too.

Hopefully none of the injuries today were serious, sounds like a scary incident in the Swe scrimmage.

And Chris Peters' recap for Finland TeamUSAWhite game including this about DiPauli:

"– Thomas DiPauli showed some glimpses of being a potential fourth-line center or wing. He has good defensive tendencies and handles the puck pretty well."

The big standoutwas Connor Carrick, there was never a point in the game where he wasn't our best player. If he keeps playing like this he should be a lock for the WJCs. He was just relentless.

Saw this post by someone who watched the game...

Barber, Carrick and DiPauli survived the roster cutdown to 31. Good to see DiPauli make it and have an opportunity over the next three games to make his case for a depth spot.

WSH's Andre Burakowsky had produced a lot of chances in this camp considering he's on the 2nd PP and 3rd line at evens.

Corey Pronman ‏@coreypronman 3m
WSH's Burakowsky nearly pulls off the highlight reel goal going through 3-4 Canadian players but couldnt finish.

Corey Pronman ‏@coreypronman 2m

Player of the game tie for me between Max Domi, Connor McDavid and Andre Burakowsky.

CHI's Teravainen ended up leading the WJC camp in scoring. MTL's Lehkonen was 2nd, and WSH's Burakowsky was 3rd.

No point totals given though.

Teravainen had 3+5 in five games and Lehkonen had 5+1 in five.

Burakovsky: 5 GP, 3+2 (3 PPGs, tied w/Lehkonen for most in the camp)
Carrick: 5 GP, 1+4
Barber: 4 GP, 1+3
Djoos: 5 GP, 1+3
DiPauli: 4 GP, 0+1
Wilson: 1 GP, 0+0

Djoos led Sweden D in scoring. Next closest was Dahlstrom with two points. Carrick was second among US D behind his frequent D partner, Butcher. (The US split squad games are included in the totals above.)
