I'm wondering if anyone knows about a website (other than USAHockey.com) where I can find stats/results for these two tournaments taking place this week.

How Pejorative Slured is that? The good news is this was about as close to shinny as it can get.

I think the good news is that it shows how talented this US team is. They had roughly 2 and 1/2 lines, and a backup goalie from the opposing team, and still did well. Phil Kessel is a beast.

Actually we don't know the details of the game. I think it is possible that the Russian team have played not using the full roster either.

For example in basketball there is an unwritten rule if the rival can't compete using their full roster i.e. has only 4 or even 3 players on the field the opponent team doing the same even they can put 5 players on the field.

Thanks for the links Slay.

The good thing is that this first game was only an exhibition game and they'll get another shot at Russia in the real tournament. Hopefully they'll have all thier equipment and thier own goaltenders (seeing as thats been one of the teams strong points).

True, but being an exhibition game, I don't think Team USA would request Russia to sit players to make it "even." The point is for the kids to play.

And then, even if they did, USA still had Russia's backup goalie in net, with one of the best of his age group, Frazee, in the crowd.

Here's to a great game when it matters, for two of the best teams!

very surprising and impressive that Finland (without Tukonen) managed to defeat team USA 4-3.

This will be the U-17 team for the World U-17 Challenge in St. John's, unless someone gets hurt. It's the NDP squad, so it won't include any Americans playing in the CHL.

On a side note, Alexander Sopin scored two goals for the Russians, considered by moosefan a first round pick in 2005.
