? There were already a number of Preds fans who said before that 9th OV for Ellis made a lot of sense for them given he is a free agent next summer and they still have 8,000 good defensive prospects to fill the void.

They would be in the minority then, and no Nashville does not have many good defensive prospects and we certainly don't have one that could replace Ellis right now.

Yeah Tyson Barrie is not on the block, and certainly not for that kind of package that really is not very good at all.

We already have an abundance of draft picks in the next 2 drafts(3 1sts, 3 2nds, and 3 3rds over the next two drafts), and an abundance of good young prospects and players.

We're not a rebuilding team and not looking to trade one of our best players for a package of maybes.

If we're moving Barrie its for a player that fills a need on the team right now and the only player on the Oilers that fits that need is Draisaitl.

Unless the Preds get a center upgrade from Turris and Johansen, including a top 4 RHD back, Ellis isn't going anywhere unless he made it clear he doesn't want to re-sign.

One year ago the Avs had a pathetic defensive core. Now, its one of the best young d-cores in the league, with up and coming players like Girard, Makar, and Timmins, Zadorov, and Meloche. They are extra stacked in the right side: Johnson, Timmins, Meloche, and Makar are all right-handed. Despite having a career year, Barrie could be expendable. What would the price be for Barrie?

Ryan Ellis is another RHD I would be interested in, as the preds also have prospects that could make him expendable. He could be a great fit on the Oilers as well.

I think it would be a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and a couple prospects. How about:
9th Overall, 2019 2nd, NYI 3rd 2019, Tyler Benson, Ethan Bear.

Until fabbro is signed and playing in the nhl, and shows he can handle top 4 minutes, I don’t see the preds dealing Ellis, not during this contending window of theirs. Ellis is ufa in 2019. That would be the only case for Nashville opting to move him due to his expected bump in contract from his current $2.5 million hit.

Barrie, 2 more years left. So, they have time with him. Having him eases the pressure and expectation on girard and maker. Allows them to continue to develop.

Not sure if picks are what either club would be interested in.

This, and the Avs will likely be just over the cap floor next season. Only $49.7m in cap hit for the guys already under contract for next season, and not a lot of big names looking at significant raises this off-season. Can't really afford to move Barrie's $5.5m cap hit right now, unless we want to overpay a UFA just to reach the floor (no thanks). We'd need similar cap coming back, and the Avs aren't interested in your bad contracts. Draisaitl is the only piece that makes sense, and I completely understand why Edmonton isn't interested in that swap.
