Seriously, where is this info coming from?

Can you share the knowledge with us? Link?

Or if it's speculative, cool....just say so.

The "link" is the TSN one where it says that the owners have offered the PA proposal, with the attached clause to flush it down the toilet as soon as the owners screw up and can't manage their team again.

Goodenow IS that stupid and it basically is the hybrid offer. It would probably work out to be three uncapped years, three capped years. With the possibility of it being four or more uncapped years.

Hello! can't believe it took that long for someone to realize that. Isn't this the hybrid offer that THEY wanted?

I am not sold that this won't be a very GOOD press conference!

Ohh really, so ridiculous arbirtration increases had nothing to do with escalating costs?
Only because the owners agreed to pay those arbitration increases. You do know that the owners could walk away from arbitration and let the player become a UFA, right? You have no point anyway, the PA has already been willing to make some compromises in the arbitration system...

a players like jagr obvously not trying anymore after he signed his big deal...
If anything, a situation like that probably keeps salaries DOWN. You think owners didn't learn from watching the Caps signing Jagr and then having to dump him?

Ok. let's say that a guy makes 1.8 million which is the average salary for 10 years.
That's 18 mill. dollars. That's way more than an averege Joe makes in his life.

Professional athletes are not "the average Joe". The are exceptional in their profession.

Suppose with the cap they make 1.3 for 10 years.
That's still 13 mill, still way more than the normal person makes.
So I think we can safely say that with a salary cap the players are still gonna be more than wealthy for the rest of their lives and they CAN afford to be a little less greedy, if of course they save some during their careers.

Who are "we"? And why do "we" have any say in the earning power of anyone else, NHL player or otherwise?

Are these the "freedoms" that some wish to protect in the US (and Canada)? The freedom to dictate what another individual should be willing to earn?

I think Bill Gates makes too much. And for that matter, I think you make too much too. Time to give some back.

How do you like it now? ;)

(BTW, this has nothing to do with being pro- or anti-NHLPA. It has everything to do with preserving basic individual rights and freedoms in a democratic, capitalistic society. Your rights, as well as mine...and Chris Pronger's and Ted Leonis', for that matter.)

:)

<sigh>... The good ol' "They get paid millions to play a game.." argument..

They don't get paid millions because they're playing a game, they get paid millions because they generate hundreds of millions. Stop looking at them as people, start looking at them as revenue streams. That's how the owners do.

So it's like a mix of the newsflash and speculation. I see.

Is anyone hearing anything? I am just getting what sounds like an empty room.

That would be live from inside Bob Goodenow's head. :joker:

Wrong my friend. They rejected a bastardized version of their proposal that gave all the power to the owners.

How do you know? Do you have a copy of the proposal laying around? If so, could you share it?
Or are you just making stuff up?

I'm getting some easy listening muzak combined with muffled sounds of microphones being moved.

I do and they dont generate as much revenue to let the owners give them as much money as they want.

that's definitely porno music.

Good to see that they've lost their minds and decided that a romp in the sack is the way to go with CBA negotiations.
