I'm sure the pro scouting staff that recommended signing Douglas Murray and giving two years to a clearly finished Briere (not to mention redundent with Desharnais)will have some great advice

Have you seen our defense?

These people who think we can just afford to throw away Gorges with no replacement lined up...what planet are we on?

Yeah, Gorges isn't the problem on our defense. No offense but he's a hard worker and he is a good PKer. Reasonable contract too with the cap going up.

Gorges is beyond useless this season. Can't clear the zone, can't make a pass out of the zone and isn't doing much of anything. Not to mention his kiss ass BS in the room and calling out teammates in the media is annoying.

Future captain? Puh-lease, get rid of this overpaid bum.

Gorges NOT Georges,

Leads all Habs defensemen in plus/minus with a plus 5 rating.
Subban is second with Plus 3.
Markov is third with plus 2.
Diaz is fourth with minus 4.
Bouillon is fifth with minus 9.
Murray and Emelin are both minus 13.

He's got 11 points, only one behind Diaz (who is third in points), and he is currently second in the league in blocked shots with 141 (defensemen).

He's playing okay, and he's obviously not the problem on this team. Yes he's had a couple of bad games, but I don't know of any Habs player who hasn't this year. He's the defensive backbone of this team.

That's probably why we're getting demolished.

I'd be more inclined to say that it's because of our 5 forwards that are 5'9 or smaller, or the fact that Diaz, Murray, Bouillon and Emelin have all been rotten this year, or the fact that the player with the highest point total on this team only has 36....

But nice cutesy little one liner.

Gorges has decent value around the league. A warrior, a leader, basically a reliable and solid defenseman.

Besides the year he got his knee surgery, that guy doesn't miss a game and remains consistent while often being given some of the opposing teams' top6 to play against game in, game out.

So mixed in a package, Gorges could be a very interesting added piece for other teams.
