Valeri Bure is upset at Thrashers management for trading him to the Panthers, a team that he doesn't consider a contender.

The return of Cory Cross from his injury has been tainted by Todd Simpsons knee injury. Chicago has been dressing 7 defenceman most of the season and shouldn't have to call up anyone from the minors.

Chuck Kobasew has expressed his dissapointment at being re-assigned to the minors after playing in 34 games for St. Louis this season. Kobasews assignment came following Mike Griers unexpected arrival via trade. The player had yet to tally a point this season but is only -1.

Most of the talk surrounding the Hurricanes has focused on forwards Andrew Cassels, Jason Wiemer and John LeClair. The reality is that teams might be more interested in trading for Carolina's pending free-agent Scott Young. GM Dion Ong flatly refuses to believe that his team is already out of playoff contention, but the rumours will not die down.

Anton Volchenkov visited another specialist in Los Angeles yesterday for a second opinion about his broken neck. The player is trying to decide whether to have surgery to correct lingering problems with his career threatening injury.

The Predators are unlikely to welcome back Jim VanderMeer when he returns from his suspension. The team held a players only closed door meeting to discuss the players actions, and informed team management that they will no allow VanderMeer back into the dressing room this season.

Brad Isbister skated hard in morning practice and isn't expected to miss any playing time with an undisclosed upper body injury suffered during the scrum that appeared after Michal Rozsivals high-sticked Colorado's Stephane Robidas in the third period of Pittsburghs 2-0 shut-out loss last night. Robidas suffered 14 stiches across the bridge of his nose and forehead. He returned to the bench later in the game but did not take to the ice. There is no word on whether the league will take any official action against Rozsivals.

Calgary Flames management seem to be be loosening up in their discussions revolving potential restricted free agent Jason Williams following thier much publicised contract dispute. The Flames have apparently made a serious offer for the player, with two, three and four year contract options.

Facing a media crush yesterday after Steve McCarthy's dressing room tirade about his lack of playing time, GM Sean Keough assured the scrum that his private meeting with the player went well and that the differences of opinion are being worked out but would not elaborate any further. In the game that night, where the Canucks lost 3-1 to the Blackhawks, McCarthy recieved only 14 minutes of playing time, with only two shifts in the third period. He was on the ice for both of Chicagos first two goals.
