KW: I agree that they definitely don't give updates like this during the season. Given that it's off season, maybe that prompted them to be more open with the disclosure?

It is more than a bit odd. I am sure that he is not seriously re-injured, but sending him home with a bit of neck pain shows just how worried they are about the original injury. These things can take a long time to heal completely and sometimes never do .

imo a mild neck sprain in Troubs case means he aggravated his prior injury. Were it not a big deal he would not have left. This is precautionary because they dont want it to further worsen. Perhaps not earth shattering but certainly concerning. We all saw the instagram of the iced neck at the end of the season, WHY send him to the worlds? Rest that thing till pre-season. Hopefully this isnt a set back, and there isint a press release about a minor surgical procedure in a week or so. We all know that's how it often goes. Not wanting to be a nancy negative, just giving my two cents.

They will in the off season. When Bogo had his wrist surgery in the summer of 2012 they shared all the details. During the season it would have been out indefinitely with a lower and/or upper body injury. In terms of long term concerns there is nothing to suggest we should be worried.

Not to worry... if the team isn't concerned about him "ram fighting" with Bogo this is a piece of cake.

“We have ram fights, it’s what we do. We have to explain to people. Ok so you get down…†he begins to explain but Trouba jumps in. “On all fours, with your heads touching each other. This is not good for neck injuries,†he adds, laughing. “And then you just say ‘1, 2, 3, go’ and you push.â€

Keep in mind too he is still very young. His body is able to heal much more easily than an older player. Nagging injuries are less common in younger players. For goodness sakes, Stamkos basically grew a new shin bone in a couple months.
