Love the game he is playing right now, probably our biggest surprise this year?

With that said he is a bit of a riverboat gambler, reminds me A LOT of the game Jake plays. He skates well like Jake, passes well like Jake, makes mistakes like Jake but he is for what ever reason able to recover better than Jake. He is still a step below Jake in almost ever aspect but I think with time he will be as good or better with more consistency. Oh and he hits, who would have known defencemen actually hit people?

Right now he is playing with house money, he has nothing to lose, he is playing free and easy. Next year he will be playing butt puckered not to lose his NHL job, considering he is a river boat gambler, it would not surprise me in the least to see him wear the goat horns next year. Different mind set when you are playing not to lose vs playing to win.

In any event we have a legit 4-5-6 all around D-man.

So maybe maybe one 4th line NHLer out of the lot. It's looking like we've improved our drafting in this range the last few years, which is huge. A lot of top contenders are largely built around home run late 1st/2nd round picks.

Dermott is the first Leafs 2nd rounder to even play a game for the Leafs since Kulemin 2006 draft. A decade worth of shit picks. We have made some strides though, guys like Braccom Korshkov and Grundstrom seem destined to at the very least suit up for the Leafs for a cup of coffee, hopefully much more.
