Tim Boyle route to reaching his dream of playing in the National Hockey League has taken far from a conventional path.

Since being chosen by the Ottawa Senators in the fourth round (No. 106 overall) of the 2012 NHL Draft out of the Noble and Greenough School, the Hingham native has played all over country.

Now, he’s got his best shot since being drafted of turning that dream into a reality. Boyle signed with the Adirondack Thunder, a minor league affiliate of the NHL’s New Jersey Devils, of the ECHL, which is a level below the American Hockey League. At the end of this month, he’ll attend training camp with the Binghamton Devils, New Jersey’s AHL affiliate, with the hopes of getting a step closer to the show.

On the night before they stepped onto the ice as foes for the first time in their lives, Matt and Ryan Rupert cut a deal at dinner.

If the 23-year-old twins from Grand Bend get their wish, it may never happen again.

Earlier this summer, Ryan signed on with the Indianapolis team largely based on the word of his brother. Matt scored 21 goals in his first Fuel campaign and that figure is bound to increase with a familiar face feeding him the puck.

First, they will attend the American league camp of the Chicago Blackhawks' Rockford affiliate next month. They will try to make the IceHogs, and if not, Indy is the fall-back option.

The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League, today announced that seven players who are signed to an ECHL contract with the Royals will participate in American Hockey League or NHL pre-season training camps. The four forwards and three defensemen will head to camps with three different organizations: the Lehigh Valley Phantoms and Providence Bruins of the AHL and the Montreal Canadiens of the NHL.

The Royals will send four players to Lehigh Valley training camp: forwards Michael Huntebrinker, Mark Naclerio, and Derek Whitmore and defenseman Ryan Segalla. Defenseman Nick Luukko and forward Ryan Penny will attend training camp with Providence. Defenseman Sam Posa is currently attending camp with Montreal.

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. - Kameron Kielly has made a good first impression.
The 20-year-old Charlottetown native leaves Saturday for his second trip to Winnipeg this month after attending the Jets rookie camp.

“I got invited back to their AHL camp,’’ Kielly said Tuesday. “I proved myself so far and it’s good to get another opportunity.”

The Manitoba Moose camp begins Sunday as the two-way forward looks to land his first pro deal.
