Trading first-year imports?

I've been trying to research the differences between the CHL league rules on import players, but the information is hard to find. I stumbled across a few imports who were traded in their first year with the team.

For example, Calgary traded Jonas Peterek to Kelowna in 2020.

Anyone know the rules that would allow this type of trade?

I think as long as it doesn't put any team over the limit of the two imports on the roster at one time then it's fine.

Not sure about the exact deadline but I believe first-year imports can be traded after Dec. 1 or something like that. (Or maybe after the World Juniors? Something like that.)
