We'll have to wait and see what happens, but I find it hard to believe that this entire thing is coming out of nowhere. I don't think it's a guarantee that we now have money to spend. Rather, it's probably that we already spent the money and would have been above our upper salary limit if by some miracle Mac passed his physical.

The guy apparently put his house on the market earlier in the summer, there are apparently end of season physicals, and there was that tweet by Lebrun stating he didn't think this was a surprise to the Senators.

I think we'll see Wideman+Hammond (1.125K cap) packaged for a 3rd liner in the 2M cap range, and then the team in the trade will bury Hammond. Hammond buried is only 325k cap, where as his salary is 1.5M. Perfect cap vs salary type transaction.

Even with Wideman moved, we'll have 7 NHL level defenders without Karlsson healthy.

Well a Little plays the toughest competition on the Jets and from a point per game pace outscored Turris.

Does facing the toughest competition on the jets mean he faced tougher competition than Turris? How are you measuring toughest competition (it's certainly not by expected GF%, for example, nor by CF% QOC it would seem)

Anyways, none of this changes that Turris is the sens #1 center, while Little is not. The point being made was that Turris has a stronger position when negotiating as the sens stand to lose more by not signing him as they can't afford to lose the #1 center.

I feel like we need Wideman around for October until Karlsson is healthy. We gotta keep our heads above water and not get 'Blue Jayed' in the first 15 games so the rest of the season is a wash. I'm sure he could be moved around the deadline if needed.

I wouldn't bother with Athanasiou with Boucher as the coach. Neal would be a huge add if we had the assets to part with.

You should just tank for Dahlin. Instant convince Karlsson to stay. If you can't get him, take Boqvist, he's Karlsson lite.

No the Sens shouldn't tank.

1. Tanking doesn't exist anymore. As last years draft has perfectly shown.
2. Karlsson doesn't give two ***** about a prospect that has yet to play a single game in the NHL.

He wants to win. Tanking will not convince Karlsson to stay.

I can't think of a better way to convince Karlsson to stay other than being the worst team in the league.

Big brain team building. Foolproof.

When Alfie said he doesn't think Ottawa's Ownership was serious about winning I think he meant it. If that's the attitude of most of the players, EK is a goner this summer.

If EK likes Ottawa and wants to stay for family and friends, different story.

But if EK is about winning and getting paid to win, Ottawa won't be on the list of teams he'll extend with. We are a good team, but we're not a team that can be taken seriously by serious talent with this ownership group.

If Turris won't accept 5-5.5mil, then let him go. He's a good #2 center and nothing more.

Let him go? For nothing?

Sure, you just drive out to the woods and let him find his own way. He'll be unsure at first and might not want to go, but give it a minute and a pack of wild Turrises will eventually come along and he'll remember what it was like to live life in the wild, and he'll run off with his new family, without giving it a second thought.

Then you just get in your car and drive away, but not without first remembering all the good times you had with your Turris, and wiping away that stray tear from your cheek.

....

we just made the ecf

we have one of the better prospects getting ready to join the team in chabot

we play playoff style hockey all year and im sure the team has now 100% bought in because of how far we made it

we have as much of a shot anyone to get out of the east and especially out of the division

so yeah your post makes no sense

the only way i jump on the lets burn this to the ground team is if we lowball karlsson and if we lowball karlsson melnyk will need consistent security lmao

This made my mind go to what it would be like to have David Attenborough do the play by play of a hockey game in the style of a nature documentary.

The Cowen is a large but clumsy predator. His attacks are easily avoided by the smaller and quicker Kane.

Let him go? For nothing? He's an asset. Why would it be best to just let an asset go, instead of either keeping it or getting something for it?

Yeah couldn't agree more this teams asset management has been garbage time to start being more responsible.

So what is the plan to replace MacArthur?

In terms of UFA's our options are Jaromir Jagr or Jarome Iginla.

In terms of trades the only players that have some speculation to be available are James Neal, Gabriel Landeskog and Matt Duchene.

We don't really have the players to replace MacArthur internally so do we go the trade route or sign a UFA? Are there others players we could target other than the ones I listed?
