Hoffman getting moved is a good thing. Now if only the Leafs and Knights could re-sign JVR and Neal pre-draft. Then Patch becomes sought after on draft day.

I agree, it's unlikely. Win/Win though. I can see the Leafs taking a step back next year and they become a 2 line team instead of the crazy top 3 lines they had last year. Interested to see the moves they make this off season. Not much cap space moving forward and they need serious help on D if they want to be contenders.

Not sure either team would do inter-division. But I'd rather have Max Domi than the package OTT got, so I'd have to think the Sens would have been all over that.

I don't think Montreal/Ottawa was far enough geographically for both teams to make this type of swap.

Notice where they were traded...about as far away as possible.

No. There was no way Dorion would have traded within the division. Hence why San Jose got a better deal. Florida offered more to Ottawa than what they ended giving San Jose. Case in point, Dorion trading Hoffman within the conference, let alone the division, was only gunna happen if someone really paid.

There’s still a ton of teams that need winger help. Anaheim, Pittsburgh, LA Kings, Pittsburgh, St Louis and Edmonton come to mind.

Sam Steele and Maxime Comtois would be a damn good return imo.
