Can't blame him, every other Swede is in Detroit.

The way Pavelec is performing, there could be an argument he should be #4 on that list.

I don't think that Thomas Greiss is behind Schwarz or Rask. He plays an unbelievable season with Cologne in the DEL and is #1 Goalie in Germanys Nationalteam!

Just my opinion but the way Lundqvist has played for my Rangers this year I'd just as soon have him than anyone else on your list.

Don't forget Tobias Stephan, DAL, he's having a hell of a year with Kloten Flyers, and he's injury free, at least by now....

i have to agree, but only because Lehtonen has been injured. Lundqvist is still better than Toivonen in my opinion.

when is lehtonen supposed to be back?

one could also argue that lehtonen's continued injury problems this year might lower his value until it's determined his groin won't be a problem in the future

no use having a stud goalie if he's always injured (but i doubt that's what will happen with lehtonen...it's just something to take into consideration at this point)

Do Lehtonen, Lundqvist and Toivonen even count as prospects anymore?

well lehtonen has only played in 4 full NHL games, so i'd still consider him a prospect

lundqvist has played in 15 NHL games, but i don't know when the prospect tag comes off for a goalie based on games played

    Toivonen's played 10 games...

honestly since they all haven't played tons in the NHL, it's easy to consider them still prospects...though since they're all likely to stick up with their teams this year it'd be easy to consider them NHLers as well

i at least consider lundqvist a NHLer now

though it may not be technically true due to games played, the fact that hes outplaying all but 2 or 3 NHL goalies, hes pretty much no longer a prospect. ;)

I agree. Right now I'd take Lundqvist over any of those goalies. But we'll see how good Lehtonen really is when he comes back.

Will he have a spot on the Olympic team? I can see Greiss falling into one of those five spots once some of these other guys move on past the prospect status...Lehtonen,Toivonen,etc.

It's pretty sure that Greiss will be in the olympic team. Even if Kolzig will playing for Germany. Can't see a better german Goalie in the DEL at the moment.

Pavalec is the best goalie in the QMJHL this season. Id definatly put him up there before Schwarz.

I'm not really sure if Poss/Krupp/Merk would take Greiss for such a tournament. Kölzig is the starter, no doubt about it, his backup will be Müller, that leaves one open spot on the roster.

They might decide to give a guy like Greiss the experience of such a huge tournament, but I could see them opting for a more established goalie like Jonas or Jung. It looks like Jonas is getting more playing time than Greiss right now, although I have no idea why.

I'd take Greiss, if he can remain on such a high level, but you never know what the coaches will do.

Yes,thats the possibilities. But i really think Greiss will be one of the 3 Goalies. Kolzig is sure, Müller probably too, and Greiss would had earned it to be in the roster and make a few games. He played better than Jonas or Jung.

Kölzig is a lock (if not injured). Müller should be there too.

That leaves us with Greiss, Jonas, Jung & maybe Pätzold.

Greiss has played phenomenal (GAA 1.64, SVS% .949) this season and has outplayed Jonas (who is on the same team) clearly.
Jung has played quite ok, but Pätzold has had an awful year so far.

I hope they give the 3rd spot to Greiss since Jung and Pätzold have no international expirience and Jonas has played quite poorly at the 2005 WC.

I don't see Patzold being chosen. He is not even starting for the Cleveland Barons in the AHL losing playing time to Josh Holden. Would be nice to see Greiss get the experience of the Olympics.

Schwarz should not be on this list.
