I know that a very thorough list gets done every summer but with the midway point of the NHL Schedule coming up and the WJHC on the go, I thought it might be time to take a look at our Prospect Pool and how they stack up.

I am using HF rules in terms of not including anyone over the age of 25. So, I am not including Chris Wideman, Cole Schneider, David Dziurzynski, etc.

I am basing my list on who I think our Top 20 Prospects are in terms of what they project to be in terms of their play right now and their potential going forward.

Here goes:

1. D Thomas Chabot
2. F Colin White
3. F Shane Prince
4. F Nick Paul
5. F Matt Puempel
6. G Matt O'Connor
7. D Andreas Englund
8. D Mikael Wikstrand
9. F Ryan Dzingel
10. F Tobias Lindberg
11. F Max McCormick
12. G Chris Dreidger
13. F Filip Chlapik
14. F Francis Perron
15. F Gabriel Gagne
16. D Christian Jaros
17. G Marcus Hogberg
18. D Fredrik Claesson
19. D Ben Harpur
20. F Buddy Robinson

Honorable Mentions: G Joel Daccord, D Miles Gendron, D Kelly Summers,
F Filip Ahl, F Quentin Shore

Would be interested to see other lists.

From what I have seen this year:
Chabot > White

Both play different positions so hard to say but definitely think Chabot is Sens' top prospect at this point. I do like White's game though.

Honestly, I think I intended to put Chabot first. The two are pretty interchangeable to me. The list I posted is very "general". I'd divide it into the following tiers:

Tier 1: 1&2
Tier 2: 3-8
Tier 3: 9-14
Tier 4: 14-24

Within those tiers, there's not too much thought put into ranking other than 3-8 tbh.

O'Connor seems way too high on your lists. And I would have Perron much higher.

If based on potential of what they could be going forward and actual play, Dzingle and McCormick have no business being in front of Chlapik, Gagné and Perron.

I'm still hoping we get a Prince - Paul - Puempel line so we can dub them the Penetration line.

White is first because playing against his peers in the WJC he has not just been made assistant captain to a very strong American team but he has also been one of their best players including best player against TC. He has also been off to a great start so far this season for Boston College with 8 goals & 15 assists. Chabot was not even expected to make Team Canada & has done okay so far while White is excelling. Chabot was good at the development camp & rookie tournament but this is another level.

Paul, Lindberg & O'Connor are all off to a very slow start to their first pro season but I expect all three to pick it up in the second half of the season. Puempel is starting to score again & should be a lock to make Ottawa next season while I expect Prince to be included in a trade at some point. Of the rest I think Jaros or Harpur have a shot at some point, I was very impressed with Jaros first camp.

I didnt include some guys like Daccord, Hogberg, O'Connor, McCormick and Robinson because i was kinda lazy and dont know enough about them or dont think they have much upside.

I like the idea of what Gagne can become and what kinda player he looks like. Great big wing span on a guy who likes to shoot the puck. Wolanin is a guy i dont know much about but i do like what ive heard his game is and i like how he started in college

I kinda threw guys like Englund, Harpur, Paul and Ahl together. Guys who seem to have some upside and talent but are still very early in their development

^ whats your reasoning for Paul at 16?

Dont see much offensive upside or creativity. He might be a safer prospect but i think it will take awhile till he can be a bottom 6 force. You could probably shuffle around 12-16. They look like long term guys to me

That is some solid feedback right there.
Thanks for coming out.

I just don't see the point of ranking the rest of the guys, as it will not be a consensus, or even close.

I love Chlapik, I'd have him 3rd. That is not his actual ranking, but my preference.

Some will have a guy 3, others 15.

The only constants are our top 2 guys. I will rank the others depending on their progression.
