Rough, they’ll be golfing and fishing in Vancouver. These guys travel first class, this isn’t like a weekend driving into NYC for a concert, drinking all night, living off of hot dogs and falafels and crashing at the YMCA and have to be back in Ottawa for work 8:00am Monday morning.

When are you going to organize one of those poor guys trips, as it sounds like fun?

I enjoyed watching Jaros - quite a bit. I think he'll be a fun plater to see develop.

Boucher's fear of young players is an issue. He dressed White in the playoffs and played him for what? 2 minutes? Chabot had one bad game in the pre-season, which was a bad game where pretty much everybody looked terrible and it got him sent down to the AHL when he is arguably our 6th best d right now at least. We've already seen Boucher's attitude to youngsters alienate a few players, granted we've been lucky that it has been the Lazar and Puempel's of the world and not the Chabot's of the world. Hopefully, Boucher can get over it when it comes to some of these better young players like White, Brown, and Chabot.

Although, I will say he gave Brown a reasonable amount of time in his first game.

A lot of coaches are like this....especially coaches who are 'youngsters' themselves. Most coaches last around 3 years on a team, with no guarantee of getting another coaching gig. If every coach in the league had a "Babcock contract," we'd see kids being played all over the NHL.

Under Murray way to many kids were put in positions they weren’t ready for and failed - Weircoche, Cowen, Lazar, Emery and even Zibby had way to much pressure on him. And the guys that did well, Hoffman, Stone, Pageau seemed to take forever to get out of the AHL.

Go slow, playing in the NHL isn’t hard, playing hard in the NHL for a long time is hard.

Last thing this franchise needs is selling tickets on the backs of Chabot and Brown. Let them develop and when they’re ready, we’ll know it.

I agree with what your saying but it is not really accurate with the players you named.

In terms of AHL games played her is how everyone stands (that you listed)


Hoffman: 242 games played
Wiercioch: 156 games played
Emery: 154 games played
Pageau: 142 games played
Stone: 91 games played
Zibanejad: 29 games played
Lazar: 0 games played
Cowen: 0 games played

So Emery and Wiercioch where hardly rushed and spent 3 season in the AHL. They simply did not work out. Cowen and Lazar where obviously rushed but i'd argue Zib was not. He spent 2 season in the Swedish mens league and his AHL time was just about adjusting to the NA ice.

I think Claesson is a good example of someone we took our time with (285 AHL games played) while another good example of rushing would be Ceci (30 games played) who although is getting it all together was for sure put into some bad spots early in his career.
