Do you honestly believe that most players are telling Bob Goodenow what to do? If true why ist it that not one player has been able to explain why they won't work under a cost linkage system other than to say "we don't believe in it". This is all Bob.

You wanna know why they don't want linkage? Because the players shoudn't have to have their contracts and salaries slashed because the owners are too stupid to either

A) Run the business properly

or

B) Sign them to the contracts in the first place

Answer another question:

Why would bob Goodenow not want a cap when the players do? He has no reason to not listen to the players wishes.

The players need a voice of reason, a person that is respected by both sides and a person that has the experience and ability to do the Executive Director's job without neglecting the good of the game and the wellbeing of ALL OF HIS PLAYERS = BRIAN BURKE
:handclap: :handclap:
Why? So he can sell them down the river? Brian Burke is just a pro-owner mouthpiece. Yes he's smart, but 90% of what he says is pro-owner. He would make a good commish though.

i still can't believe the players are risking this much damage to their occupation--they are getting poor advice- how many of them have played their last NHL game or lost up to 25% of their total NHL earnings potential. ? unions in professional sports especially when you are talking million dollar contracts are unnecessay, professional athletes regardless of the sport are independent contractors-but on the other hand if there was not a union that would put too many lawyers in the un-employment line (bunch of vultures) and we can't have a business without lawyers taking their cut

Why would the players hire Brian Burke? He doesn't support their agenda.
He'd support their agenda if they hired him, just like Goodenow once worked on behalf of management at Unisys in negotiating against labor. Burke did start out as an agent. I'm not saying he'd make a good PA executive - just that a little cold, hard cash does wonders in changing a person's perspectives and 'beliefs.'
