In no way, shape or form is Kevin Lowe, much less Dale Hunter, a Hall of Famer. This is from somebody who advocates for every 500 goal scorer, including Verbeek, to be enshrined.

I love Kevin Dineen. He's an assistant for the Hawks and was part of that 2015 Cup run. The only justification for his induction would be if he coached the next dynasty.

Can I ask why you're advocating for Dale Hunter for the HHOF to begin with?

I'm from the 80s and I'm OCD! The Capitals were my team. The Oilers and the Islanders were my other teams. The 80s Washington Capitals teams had the best lineups that never won the Cup. Mike Gartner, Rod Langway, Larry Murphy, Scott Stevens, and Dino Ciccarelli are in the Hall, and so should Dale Hunter be. He's the last one who is highly qualified, and Mike Liut.

In what world is Dale Hunter "highly qualified"?

There are not any qualifications for Dale Hunter.

Liut? That's a different story. I lean towards no, but unlike Hunter, he does have an argument.

According to Wikipedia, 321 players have played in 1,000 NHL games. Not everybody who has done that is a Hall of Famer, nor should they be.

You know penalities actually hurt your team right?

So they aren't a relevant booster to someones case

I've argued against Turgeon before, but that is where the line should be drawn.

Verbeek, Hunter etc are not deserving.

This is the HALL OF FAME, not the HALL OF 12+ 82 GAME SEASONS

Mike Gartner will make sure Dale Hunter is inducted.

Why? Because they were teammates for a season and a half?

Throw in his OHL coaching and ownership record especially if extended, he might have a chance.

Possible, but they'd have to overlook the controversy surrounding London not-so-secretly paying large sums of money to recruit players.

Actually, it would be great if Bryan Murray and Terry Murray are inducted in the same year. It would sort of be like the Sedin twins being inducted in the same year. The Murrays are far more qualified than Roger Neilson, who was inducted in 2002!

What if Dale Hunter had played a couple more seasons and he won The Stanley Cup with Colorado and Ray Bourque? Would you then agree he should be inducted?

The Sedins are both legitimate candidates. Terry Murray has no argument to be inducted into the HOF. This would be more like inducting Pierre and Sylvain Turgeon in the same year.

Roger Neilsen is in the Hall of Fame because he's known as an innovator - most notably for studying and breaking down game videos, for helping popularize off-ice aerobic training in North America, and for constantly finding rulebook loopholes.

Do you think Terry Murray has the same reputation, or were you under the impression that Neilsen was in the Hall solely for coaching for a couple or decades and getting to one Stanley Cup final?

Yes I know, but Terry Murray had more wins, and coached longer with each team he coached.

With the recent passing of Bill Torrey, this opens up another scenario for the 2018 Hockey Hall Of Fame induction ceremony. The voters might decide to induct the next top qualified member of the New York Islanders 80s dynasty, and that would be Brent Sutter: listed here Hockey Hall of Fame - Induction Showcase - 2018 Induction Eligibility

Brent Sutter - 2 Stanley Cup rings; 1985 All-Star; 1111 Games played; 3 Canada Cups
Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Brent Sutter

Bob Nystrom - 4 Stanley Cup rings; 1977 All-Star; #23 jersey retired in 1995
Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Bob Nystrom

And that would mean Pierre Turgeon might be put on hold.

You'll have 1 New York Islanders player for Bill Torrey, 1 Washington Capitals player and 1 Ottawa Senators player for Bryan Murray, plus Martin Brodeur.

THE 2018 HOCKEY HALL OF FAME INDUCTEES

01. Martin Brodeur
02. Brent Sutter
03. Peter Bondra
04. Daniel Alfredsson
05. Bryan Murray
06. Willie O'Ree

OR

01. Martin Brodeur
02. Brent Sutter
03. Pierre Turgeon
04. Daniel Alfredsson
05. Bryan Murray
06. Willie O'Ree
